About the Airtac DMSG Electronic Sensor DMSG-N020
The DMSG-N020 is a solid-state electronic switch with an NPN 3-wire output, part of AirTAC's DMS series. Mounted in the groove of a magnet-fitted AirTAC cylinder, it sinks the connected PLC input whenever the piston reaches it. Supply voltage is 5-30 V DC, wiring is a 2 m flying lead, and the standard housing is IP64.
Three wires give a cleaner, more defined signal to a PLC input than a 2-wire series connection - but the input card must be NPN-sinking compatible, since polarity matters on a solid-state output. The 2 m bare lead can be trimmed or fed straight into a terminal strip. Profile G only sets the groove fit, not the quality tier.

The split is electrical, not quality. Solid-state DMS and EMS are DC-only and suit modern PLC inputs; the reed-based CMS switches a much wider window, so it is the one for AC circuits, relay logic and older panels. The RW (IP68) option exists on DMS and EMS only.

Is the Airtac DMSG Electronic Sensor DMSG-N020 the Right Switch?
If your PLC input card is NPN, this is the DMS variant to order; PNP cards need the P output code instead. Electronic switching is DC-only and bounce-free, unlike a reed CMS switch that tolerates 5-240 V AC/DC but carries a finite-life mechanical contact. A flying lead keeps cost down and allows cut-to-length routing; an M8 or M12 connector is the better pick where sensors are frequently unplugged. Match the G profile to the cylinder groove and order the cylinder with its magnet option.
