About the Airtac DMSGS Electronic Sensor DMSGS-050
The DMSGS-050 is the 5 m flying-lead version of the AirTAC DMS electronic cylinder switch. Solid-state sensing reads the piston magnet of an AirTAC cylinder ordered with the built-in magnet option. Output is 2-wire, supply 10-28 V DC, and the general type carries IP64 protection.
Five metres of lead lets the cable run along the machine frame to a distant cabinet without splicing. Because the element is solid-state there is no reed contact to chatter, so high-rate strokes - a sorting diverter, for example - do not wear the switch out. Profile G defines the groove fit only; the S in the code is an undocumented factory position we will verify from the datasheet on request.

The split is electrical, not quality. Solid-state DMS and EMS are DC-only and suit modern PLC inputs; the reed-based CMS switches a much wider window, so it is the one for AC circuits, relay logic and older panels. The RW (IP68) option exists on DMS and EMS only.

Work through three decisions. Circuit type: this 2-wire model drops into the line like a mechanical contact, while 3-wire NPN/PNP variants of the DMS family feed PLC inputs more cleanly. Wiring: a 5 m lead suits long runs; shorter frames can use 2 m or 3 m, and M8/M12 connector versions make later sensor swaps a plug-in job. Environment: the general type is IP64 - for washdown zones or flexing cable tracks ask about the -RW version with IP68. Whichever you choose, the profile must match the cylinder groove and the cylinder needs the magnet option fitted.
