About the Airtac DMSH Electronic Sensor DMSH-N020
This AirTAC DMS sensor is a solid-state electronic switch with an NPN 3-wire output, made to read the piston magnet of an AirTAC cylinder carrying the magnet option. The 3-wire NPN format sinks current to a PLC input, giving a cleaner dedicated signal than a 2-wire series connection. Supply voltage is 5-30 V DC, protection is IP64, and wiring is a 2 m flying lead. The H profile letter sets the groove fit.
NPN is a polarity decision: the output must match a sinking PLC input card, whereas the P-code PNP version feeds a sourcing input - mixing them up is the most common wiring fault with 3-wire sensors. Because the output is solid-state there is no contact bounce, so high-cycle machines get a clean transition every stroke. Confirm switching current, voltage drop and response time from the datasheet, and match the H profile to the cylinder groove.

The 2 m lead can be trimmed to length on short runs; 3, 5 and 10 m leads or M8/M12 connectors cover other layouts. Compared with the CMS reed range, which spans 5-240 V AC/DC with a mechanical contact, this DMS unit is DC-only but contact-free and better for fast cycling.
