AirTAC built the DMSJ-N050 as an electronic, solid-state position switch for cylinders that carry the factory magnet option. Output is NPN 3-wire, meaning the sensor sinks the load current and your controller input must match that polarity. It runs from a 5-30 V DC supply, its general-purpose housing is rated IP64, and a 5 m flying lead leaves the body ready for routing along the machine frame.
The extra lead length here is a wiring decision, not a performance claim: 5 m reaches from a distant cylinder to the control cabinet in one unbroken cable, avoiding joints that could fail in a vibrating cell. Note the J profile letter only sets how the switch seats in the cylinder groove - confirm it against your cylinder series before you order.

The split is electrical, not quality. Solid-state DMS and EMS are DC-only and suit modern PLC inputs; the reed-based CMS switches a much wider window, so it is the one for AC circuits, relay logic and older panels. The RW (IP68) option exists on DMS and EMS only.

Is the Airtac DMSJ Electronic Sensor DMSJ-N050 the Right Switch?
For PLC inputs that source current, this NPN switch is the wrong polarity - order the P version. Against a two-wire type, the three-wire arrangement delivers a cleaner input signal; against an M8 or M12 connector, the 5 m flying lead is cheaper and can be trimmed, but you lose the ability to unplug the sensor for service. Keep this IP64 general type out of washdown areas; the -RW variant reaches IP68. No signal is possible without a magnet-fitted cylinder.
