The AirTAC Airtac EMSH Electronic Sensor EMSH-030 is a genuine EMS magnetic position switch. It senses the magnet ring in a pneumatic cylinder's piston and signals when the piston reaches that point, giving a 2-wire output on 10-28 V DC with a 3 m flying lead. It only works on a cylinder that carries a piston magnet.
The EMSH-030 is a mini electronic switch in AirTAC's EMS series, built to detect the piston magnet of a magnet-equipped AirTAC cylinder. It is a 2-wire solid-state device fed from 10-28 V DC, with the general type rated IP64. The H profile fits the cylinder's sensor groove, and its 3 m flying lead lets the switch sit a full stroke-length away from the junction box without splicing.
Because the contact is solid-state there is nothing to bounce, so rapid on-off signalling stays crisp without contact chatter. As with every EMS the connection is 2-wire only, so plan the series wiring and make sure the H profile seats properly in your cylinder's groove.

Every EMS is 2-wire on a 10-28 V DC supply; there is no NPN / PNP version. IP64 as standard. Order the RW version where coolant, washdown or constant cable flexing is present. Switching distance, response time, current rating, voltage drop, LED behaviour, contact life, weight and dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.

We do not hold the full profile-to-cylinder-series table, so confirm the profile letter against your cylinder model before ordering — send us the cylinder part number and we will check the fit.
The split is electrical, not quality. Solid-state DMS and EMS are DC-only and suit modern PLC inputs; the reed-based CMS switches a much wider window, so it is the one for AC circuits, relay logic and older panels. The RW (IP68) option exists on DMS and EMS only.

Sense the raised and lowered positions of compact lift cylinders on tiered storage carousels.
Interlock the torque driver until each hold-down cylinder on the bench reports fully clamped.
Signal core-rod cylinder retraction so the parison station can index safely.
If the machine is DC powered and you value a no-wear solid-state contact, EMS is the right family; go CMS instead when the circuit runs on AC or you want the wide 5-240 V range. The 3 m lead suits cylinders mounted mid-machine, away from the manifold but short of needing a connector - for frequent swaps, an M8 or M12 connector version saves re-termination time. All of this assumes the cylinder itself carries the built-in magnet.
Quick checklist
Use the F-MQ bracket on round-body cylinders and F-ACT on tie-rod cylinders where there is no groove to seat the switch. Both are ordered separately from the switch. Switching distance and mounting dimensions come from the factory datasheet — ask us for the sheet that matches your cylinder.
Electronic solid-state type, 2-wire output, 10-28 V DC supply, IP64 general-type protection, and a 3 m flying lead. It only works on an AirTAC cylinder that carries the built-in piston magnet.
A CMS reed switch has a mechanical contact and tolerates 5-240 V AC or DC, which suits mixed or legacy circuits. This EMS is solid-state and DC-only (10-28 V), with no contact bounce and a smaller body for narrow grooves. Its 2-wire connection is still wired in series, so check that your load suits that arrangement.
