The AirTAC AirTAC GFR400-15 Filter Regulator 1/2 in NPT, 5 um is a genuine G-series filter regulator: water separation, 5 µm particulate filtration and balanced-type pressure regulation combined in a single body. It has PT1/2" ports, a automatic drain and regulates 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi). It does not lubricate — add a GL lubricator, or order the GFC two-unit set, if downstream equipment needs oil.
The AirTAC GFR400-15 is a filter regulator: it removes water and particulate from compressed air and holds downstream pressure at your setpoint in a single body. This size 400 unit is fitted with 1/2 in NPT ports, a 5 um filter element (code W, one step finer than the 40 um standard), an automatic drain that ejects collected condensate without manual attention, and an embedded square pressure gauge scaled in MPa. The standard regulator covers an adjustment range of 0.15-0.9 MPa (20-130 psi), with a maximum inlet pressure of 1.0 MPa (145 psi). It has no mounting bracket fitted and no reverse/check valve.
This is a genuine AirTAC part from the GFR series, which spans sizes 200, 300, 400 and 600 with port options from 1/8 in to 1 in and PT, G or NPT threads. Flow figures for this series are published as curves rather than a single rating, so ask us and we will confirm the datasheet figures against your application before you order.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC G-series air-preparation data. The regulating band is set by the drain type: automatic and differential-pressure drains regulate 0.15 - 0.9 MPa, a manual drain regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa. Standard type, regulating 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi). Air must not freeze in the unit. Flow curves, weight and outline dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.

|---|---|
| 15 | Port size PT1/2". This body offers 10 = PT3/8", 15 = PT1/2". |
| A | Drain: Automatic drain — this also sets the regulating band (0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi)). |
| (blank) | Standard type. Blank is standard, L is the low-pressure type. |
| J | Supplied without bracket. |
| (blank) | Pressure gauge fitted (blank). |
| F | Gauge shape: Square. C is round, F is square. |
| 1 | Gauge scale: MPa. 1 is MPa, 2 is psi, 3 is bar. |
| W | Filtering grade 5 µm. Only 40 µm (blank) and 5 µm (W) exist. |
| T | NPT thread. PT is the default; G is BSPP and T is NPT. |
| (blank) | No reverse-flow valve (the default). |
Field order is size, port, drain, type, bracket, gauge, shape, scale, grade, thread, reflux — a blank position takes the default. Example: GFR300-08 is a 300 body, PT1/4", differential drain, standard type, bracket included, gauge fitted, 40 µm, PT thread, no reflux valve.
A larger body carries a larger port and holds set pressure better as flow rises. AirTAC publishes flow only as curves, so size the body from your peak demand with headroom. The GFR600 uses an aluminium-alloy bowl; the 200, 300 and 400 bodies use PC.

Feeding clean, regulated air to the cylinders and grippers on a cartoning or wrapping line, where the 5 um element protects directional valves from water and fine particulate and the automatic drain keeps condensate off the machine floor.
Regulating the supply to conveyor-mounted air nozzles and diverters, where the operator sets a stable downstream pressure on the square MPa gauge and the single filter-regulator body saves panel space.
Conditioning the air feeding pneumatic control components in a process panel, where the 5 um grade and automatic drain keep moisture and fines out of pilot valves and the regulator holds the setpoint as plant pressure fluctuates.
Size 400 with 1/2 in NPT ports suits lines running higher air consumption than the 200/300 sizes; step up to 600 or down to 300 depending on the flow your circuit needs - we will check the published curves with you. The 5 um element (W) is the right choice where downstream valves and cylinders see finer contamination than the 40 um standard element removes; note that finer filtration can raise pressure drop, so confirm sizing early. The automatic drain suits unattended or hard-to-reach installations; manual and differential-pressure drains are available on other GFR codes if you prefer operator-controlled or demand-based draining. The square gauge is embedded and scaled in MPa; external round gauges with MPa, psi or bar scales can be ordered. PT is the standard thread for this series, with G (BSPP) and NPT as catalogue options - this code carries NPT. No bracket is fitted on this code; bracketed versions exist if you need panel or wall mounting.
Quick checklist
The PC bowl must not be cleaned with solvents — wipe it with a dry cloth. Without the K option, air cannot flow back through the unit. A filter regulator adds no oil to the line.
AirTAC publishes flow for the GFR series as curves rather than a single rated figure, so we do not quote a rated flow, Cv or SCFM number. Send us your application details and we will confirm the datasheet flow curves and help you check that this size 400, 1/2 in NPT unit suits your air consumption before you order.
The A in the code GFR40015AJF1WT means the bowl drains itself automatically, which suits unattended or hard-to-reach installations. Other GFR400 codes are available with a manual drain (code M) or the differential-pressure drain (blank), and the regulation range differs by drain type: 0.15-0.9 MPa (20-130 psi) for automatic and differential-pressure drains, 0.05-0.9 MPa (7-130 psi) for manual drain.
