The AirTAC Airtac MAC Stainless Steel Mini Air Cylinder MAC20X160SCA is a genuine double acting + cushion standard round-body mini air cylinder with a Ø20mm bore and 160mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a stainless-steel barrel with a hard-chrome-plated rod for reliable, mildly corrosion-resistant service. A variable air cushion at both ends lets you tune end-of-stroke deceleration on site.
With 160 mm of stroke, the 20 mm bore still generates 157.0 N of push at 0.5 MPa - roughly 16 kgf - enough to swing or push light loads across a wide arc. The MAC20X160SCA is double acting with a variable air cushion at each end, so the long-moving rod can decelerate smoothly instead of slamming the aluminium covers. Air range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) and rod speed reaches 800 mm/s.
The CA pivot back cover turns the cylinder itself into a linkage member: pin it to a lever and the rod eye rides the swing. Counting on a 60 percent duty figure leaves about 94 N of dependable push at 0.5 MPa, and in pure lift terms that thrust raises roughly 8 kg against gravity with a 2:1 margin. The riveted stainless barrel and hard-chrome rod tolerate splash and outdoor dust, and the built-in magnet feeds CMSG, DMSG or EMSG switches anywhere along the 160 mm.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC MA-series datasheet. Barrel: stainless-steel tube (round-body, riveted rolling-packed construction); piston rod: carbon steel with 20µm hard-chrome plating; covers: aluminium alloy. Thread options: PT (blank) / G / NPT. Every MA-series cylinder ships with a built-in magnet for CMSG / DMSG / EMSG position sensors.

| 0.5 MPa | 157 N | 132 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 220 N | 185 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 32 kgf | |
Actual usable force is lower than theoretical due to friction and back-pressure. Size with a safety margin.
| MAC | Standard round-body mini cylinder (double-acting, variable cushion). |

MA-family variants: MA / MAC (double acting ±cushion), MSA / MTA (single acting push / pull), MAD / MACD (double rod ±cushion), MAJ / MACJ (adjustable stroke ±cushion), MAR (cushioned with integrated F/U mount). Mounting accessories: FA flange, LB foot, SDB pivot; plus I and Y knuckles. Thread PT (blank) / G / NPT.
Swinging a lightweight diverter gate on a packaging conveyor - the CA pivot pins straight to the lever over the 160 mm arc.
Sliding a 4 kg machine cover 160 mm open; the cushion settles the lid at each end rather than crashing the stop.
Advancing a row of blister packs onto an outfeed tray - about 94 N of practical push at 0.5 MPa keeps the row moving.
Long strokes punish side loads, so guide the load externally - the 8 mm rod is meant for push-pull along its axis, not bending. If 157.0 N at 0.5 MPa feels tight, a 25 mm bore reaches 245.3 N; if generous, the 16 mm bore saves space at 100.5 N. Remember the rod position is not retained: with the valve centred or air off, the load drifts, so a pilot check valve or rod lock is the answer for held positions. Mount on the FA flange or LB foot and let the CA pivot carry the rod-end articulation; the magnet is fitted as standard.
Quick checklist
The 20 mm bore pushes 157.0 N and pulls 131.9 N at 0.5 MPa, and 219.8 N / 184.7 N at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical ceiling of 32 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It runs on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), survives 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof, spans -20 to +70 C and strokes 160 mm at 30-800 mm/s.
Back both needle screws fully off, run the cylinder slowly through its 160 mm travel, then close them gradually until the end-of-stroke thump disappears. That leaves a variable cushion tuned to your load and speed - it slows the piston near each cover, it does not lock or hold it there.
