With 157 N of push at 0.5 MPa across a 280 mm stroke, the MAC20X280SCM covers the light-duty band of AirTAC's MAC family - and the CM round-end back cover gives you a clevis-style pivot point without extra brackets. This is a double-acting cylinder: air drives the rod out and pulls it back, and needle screws at both ends tune the air cushion so fast cycles land softly. Stainless round tube, hard-chrome rod, rolled aluminium covers: it keeps sealing where painted-steel minis start to flake in humid or food-wash corners.
Position feedback needs no special-order piston, because the magnet ships inside as standard - just clip a CMSG, DMSG or EMSG switch to the barrel. For vertical work, the 157 N push equals about 16 kgf of lift; halve that for margin and you can raise roughly 8 kg vertically with confidence.

Is the Airtac MAC Stainless Steel Mini Air Cylinder MAC20X280SCM the Right Cylinder?
If 157 N at 0.5 MPa is more than you need, the bore 16 version gives 100.5 N; if the load creeps past 200 N, the bore 25 with 245.3 N push is the right step. The rod is not locked in place - centre the valve or lose air and it drifts - so add a pilot check valve or rod lock wherever a mid-stroke load must stay parked. Choose this CM cover when the cylinder pivots in a yoke or link; otherwise U flat-end or CA pivot covers, plus FA / LB / SDB brackets, cover fixed frames. Over a 280 mm stroke, support the load externally so the 8 mm rod sees little side force.
