The AirTAC MDD multi-mount series is a compact square-body cylinder that can be fixed from six directions - front, back, left, right, top and bottom - and mounted side by side to save space where a tie-rod cylinder would not fit. This MDD32X60 is the double-rod version: a 32 mm bore with a 60 mm stroke and a rod out of each end, so both sides of the body can do work at the same time. Theoretical thrust at 0.5 MPa is 345.6 N per side, since the rod on each end reduces the effective piston area the way the pull side of a single-rod cylinder does. Cushioning is a bumper, the medium is air filtered to 40 um, and operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi).

How to choose
Bore 32 is the strongest size in the MD range: 345.6 N per rod side at 0.5 MPa for this double-rod build, against 245.4 N for a 25 mm double-acting bore. Stay with MD if the rod is free to rotate; move to the MK no-rotating series if the load must not turn. Acting options are double acting (MD), single push (MSD), single pull (MTD), double rod (MDD, this SKU) and adjustable stroke (MDJ). The 60 mm stroke is the maximum catalogued for a 32 mm double-acting bore, and because the covers are short an over-long stroke should be avoided. This SKU has no magnet (no trailing S); choose MDD32X60S if you need switch detection. Ports are 1/8" PT thread, with a G-thread version available. Applications
Rise-and-fall conveyor stopper
Bolt the body under the line frame and drive a stopper blade from one rod end while the other end carries a position flag; the 60 mm stroke lifts the blade clear of the product path.
Two-station transfer push
With rods on both ends, one cylinder can push a part into station one on one side while ejecting a finished piece on the other, and the six-way body fixes flush between machine plates.
Bin and tray lifting actuator
Mount the body top-down in a compact lift frame and use the 60 mm stroke and 345.6 N per side to raise or lower small trays or bins between two levels.
FAQ
This SKU has no S at the end - can I still use position switches?
No. The trailing S in an AirTAC MD/MK code shows the magnet, and MDD32X60 is supplied without one, so magnetic switches cannot detect the piston. The slots are still machined around the body; order MDD32X60S if you need end-position detection.
Is a 60 mm stroke the limit for this cylinder?
Yes for this bore. Double-acting 32 mm multi-mount cylinders are catalogued up to 60 mm, and the short covers caution against an over-long stroke beyond the table. For other strokes, exact dimensions, weight and allowable side load, confirm from the datasheet - we can send it on request.
