Airtac MDD Multi-position Double Rod Cylinder MDD6X5

The MDD6X5 is an AirTAC multi-mount cylinder with a compact square body that fixes from 6 directions: front, back, left, right, top and bottom. That freedom of fixing, plus the ability to mount several units side by side, makes it ideal wherever panel space is scarce. This double rod, double acting version extends a rod from both ends of the 6 mm bore and gives a very short 5 mm stroke, suited to nudging, ejecting or registering a part. Each rod side produces roughly 10.6 N at 0.5 MPa (the rod-side figure for this bore), and the cushion is a bumper for a simple, repeatable stop. Switch slots machined around the body accept magnetic switches.

This is a genuine AirTAC part in the MD standard family, so it does not prevent rod rotation; choose the MK no-rotating family where the rod must stay square. Note that this SKU carries no magnet, as the code shows, so it will not detect a magnetic switch. It operates on filtered air at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) at 30-500 mm/s with M5x0.8 PT ports. Size the bore to the job: the 6 mm bore gives about 14.1 N push and 10.6 N pull at 0.5 MPa, so short, light loads are its territory. The MDD double rod format suits symmetric tooling with a working rod at each end, and double acting control moves the piston both ways on air at 30-500 mm/s. The 5 mm stroke is well inside the 35 mm limit for this bore and suits the short covers, which is exactly what this compact body is built for, so avoid stretching to a much longer stroke on the same footprint.
