The AirTAC Airtac MGC Stainless Steel Mini Cylinder MGC25X125S is a genuine double acting + cushion JIS-standard round-body mini air cylinder with a Ø25mm bore and 125mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a SUS304 stainless-steel barrel with a hard-chrome-plated rod for reliable, mildly corrosion-resistant service.
The AirTAC MGC25X125S is a double acting, JIS-standard round-body mini cylinder with a 25 mm bore and 125 mm stroke, fitted with a variable air cushion at both stroke ends. Unlike the bumper-type MG, this cushion is adjustable: turn the needle valve at each cover to meter the exhaust and decelerate the piston smoothly before it reaches end of travel, so the MGC25X125S can run at higher piston speeds and move heavier loads without hammering the covers. Air pushes the piston in both directions, delivering 245.3 N push and 206.1 N pull at 0.5 MPa (72 psi).
Construction follows the MG family recipe: a SUS304 stainless barrel with covers and stainless block riveted and rolled onto it, plus a 10 mm hard-chrome plated carbon-steel rod (20 um plating) running in a two-way piston seal that also stores lubricant. Ports are 1/8", the male rod thread is M10x1.25, and the operating envelope is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), -20 to +70 C and 30-800 mm/s. Because the S code is in the model, a magnet is built into the piston, so CMSG, DMSG or EMSG reed switches can be clipped on for end-of-stroke signalling. Note that the cushion only decelerates the stroke end - it is not a lock or brake, so use an external rod lock or pilot check valve if the load must be held on air loss.

Pushing finished parts off a small assembly station at 30-800 mm/s: the variable air cushion absorbs the end-of-stroke shock that a bumper-only mini cylinder would transmit to the covers at speed.
Kicking or stopping lightweight cartons on a transfer line, where the adjustable cushion lets you tune deceleration so 15 kg-class loads stop cleanly instead of bouncing.
Clamping or positioning jigs on automated bench fixtures, with CMSG or DMSG switches on the magnet confirming extend and retract positions for the PLC.
At 25 mm bore the MGC25X125S gives 245.3 N push at 0.5 MPa (72 psi), about 25 kgf; as a rule of thumb keep dynamic working loads near 0.6 of that, roughly 15 kg, and for vertical lifting halve it again to about 12.5 kg. If you need more force, step up to the 32 mm bore (402.2 N push at 0.5 MPa); there is no smaller MGC than 20 mm (157.0 N). If your application runs slow and light and you do not need end-of-stroke damping, the plain bumper-type MG in the same bore is the lower-cost alternative for 20-40 mm bores. Mount the MGC25X125S with an FA flange or LB foot bracket, and add I or Y rod knuckles where the load swings. The S in the code means the magnet is already fitted for CMSG/DMSG/EMSG switches. At 125 mm the stroke is well inside the 500 mm standard limit, but on any longer stroke keep side load on the 10 mm rod minimal or guide the load externally.
Quick checklist
At 0.5 MPa (72 psi) it delivers 245.3 N push and 206.1 N pull; at 0.7 MPa (101 psi) that rises to 343.4 N push and 288.5 N pull. The theoretical maximum is 50 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Keep practical working loads around 15 kg dynamic (about 0.6 of push force) and roughly 12.5 kg for vertical lifting.
The S means a piston magnet is fitted, so CMSG, DMSG or EMSG reed switches can be mounted for position signalling. The cushion itself is a variable air cushion at both ends - adjustable needle control that decelerates the piston near end of travel - whereas the plain MG uses a fixed bumper pad and cannot be tuned.
