The AirTAC Airtac MGC Stainless Steel Mini Cylinder MGC40X200 is a genuine double acting + cushion JIS-standard round-body mini air cylinder with a Ø40mm bore and 200mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a SUS304 stainless-steel barrel with a hard-chrome-plated rod for reliable, mildly corrosion-resistant service.
The AirTAC MGC40X200 is a double acting, JIS-standard round-body mini cylinder with a 40 mm bore and 200 mm stroke, fitted with a variable air cushion at both stroke ends. Unlike the bumper-type MG, the cushion needle is adjustable, so you can dial in smooth end-of-stroke deceleration when running higher piston speeds or moving heavier loads, without hammering the covers. At 0.5 MPa it delivers 628.3 N push and 527.8 N pull, rising to 879.6 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical maximum of 128.1 kgf at 1.0 MPa.
Construction follows the JIS mini-cylinder footprint: a SUS304 stainless barrel with covers and stainless block riveted and rolled onto it, plus a hard-chrome plated (20 um) 16 mm carbon-steel rod with male thread M14x1.5. The two-way piston seal also stores lubricant for long service life. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) with air filtered to 40 um, proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), temperature -20 to +70 C, and speed 30-800 mm/s. Air ports are 1/8". Note that the cushion only decelerates the stroke end; it is not a lock or brake, so an external rod lock or pilot check valve is recommended for a held load.

The variable air cushion absorbs the impact of stopping cartons or totes at high line speeds, while 628.3 N push at 0.5 MPa gives ample force for diverting loads on the 200 mm stroke.
With 879.6 N push at 0.7 MPa and adjustable end-of-stroke deceleration, the MGC40X200 suits light pressing, staking and forming fixtures where a hard stop would damage tooling.
About 64 kgf of push force at 0.5 MPa holds workpieces in jigs and fixtures, and the SUS304 stainless barrel with hard-chrome rod resists shop-floor wear and coolant splash.
At 40 mm bore, the MGC40X200 sits in the upper-middle of the MGC range: 628.3 N push at 0.5 MPa, roughly 64 kgf, so a safe working load of about 38 kg (0.6 x push force) is a practical rule of thumb, or roughly 19 kg for vertical lifting duty. Size both ways: the 32 mm MGC gives 402.2 N at 0.5 MPa if you need less force, while the 50 mm bore jumps to 981.3 N if you need more. If your application runs slowly with light loads and you do not need end-of-stroke damping, the bumper-type MG in the same 40 mm bore is the no-cushion alternative. The 200 mm stroke is within the 500 mm standard range for this bore. Mount with the FA flange or LB foot, and add I or Y rod knuckles where the tooling needs a swivel. Order the -S magnet option if you plan to fit CMSG, DMSG or EMSG switches; without it, no sensor can be mounted. For strokes near the top of the range, support the rod or guide the load to limit side loading on the 16 mm rod.
Quick checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes with 628.3 N and pulls with 527.8 N; at 0.7 MPa, push is 879.6 N and pull is 738.9 N. The theoretical maximum force is 128.1 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Air supply should be filtered to 40 um within the 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) operating range.
The MGC40X200 has a variable air cushion at both stroke ends: turn the cushion needle to adjust deceleration for your speed and load; it is adjustable, not a fixed pad, and it does not lock or hold the rod on air loss. To mount CMSG, DMSG or EMSG switches you must order the -S magnet option; this model has no magnet fitted.
