The AirTAC Airtac MGC Stainless Steel Mini Cylinder MGC63X50 is a genuine double acting + cushion JIS-standard round-body mini air cylinder with a Ø63mm bore and 50mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a SUS304 stainless-steel barrel with a hard-chrome-plated rod for reliable, mildly corrosion-resistant service.
The AirTAC MGC63X50 is a double acting, JIS-standard round-body mini cylinder with a 63 mm bore and a short 50 mm stroke, built with a variable air cushion at both ends. Unlike the bumper-type MG, the cushion needles let you dial in the deceleration at each end of travel, so this cylinder can run at higher piston speeds and move heavier loads without hammering the covers. At 0.5 MPa it delivers a push force of 1557.9 N and a pull force of 1400.9 N, rising to 2181 N push and 1961.2 N pull at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical maximum of 317.7 kgf at 1.0 MPa.
Construction follows the JIS mini-cylinder footprint: a SUS304 stainless barrel with covers and stainless block riveted and rolled onto it, plus a hard-chrome plated (20 um) carbon-steel rod of 20 mm with a male M18x1.5 thread. Air ports are 1/4". It operates on filtered air (40 um) at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), from -20 to +70 C, at speeds of 30-800 mm/s. Note that the air cushion only decelerates the piston near end of stroke; it is not a lock or brake, so an external rod lock or pilot check valve is recommended for a held load.

The 63 mm bore pushes 1557.9 N at 0.5 MPa, and the variable air cushion lets the ram decelerate smoothly into the workpiece stop even at fast cycle speeds, protecting the end covers.
Short 50 mm stroke is ideal for pushing heavy packages off a line; the adjustable cushion prevents the pusher plate from bouncing back at the end of travel.
With 2181 N push at 0.7 MPa and a compact round stainless body, the MGC63X50 clamps workpieces firmly while the cushion absorbs the final approach impact.
At 63 mm bore this is the largest MGC offered, giving 1557.9 N push at 0.5 MPa (about 158.8 kgf; halve it for a safe vertical-lift figure of roughly 79 kg). If you need more force you must step up to a different cylinder family; if you need less, the 50 mm bore MGC gives 981.3 N at the same pressure. For bores 20-40 there is also the bumper-type MG without cushioning, but only the MGC and MGCD exist in 50 and 63 mm. Choose the MGC over the MG when your cycle speed or moving mass would otherwise slam the end covers: the adjustable cushion absorbs that energy. Stroke 50 mm is well within the 500 mm standard range, and non-standard strokes up to 800 mm are made to order. Mounting is FA flange or LB foot, with I and Y rod knuckles available; add the S code (MGC63X50S) if you want position sensing with CMSG, DMSG or EMSG switches - this no-S model carries no magnet and accepts no sensor. With a 20 mm rod and a short stroke, keep side loads on the rod minimal or use an external guide.
Quick checklist
At 0.5 MPa: push 1557.9 N and pull 1400.9 N. At 0.7 MPa: push 2181 N and pull 1961.2 N. Theoretical maximum force is 317.7 kgf at 1.0 MPa. For safe vertical lifting, apply a rule of thumb of about 0.6 times the push force, roughly 95 kg here.
Needle valves at both ends let you meter the exhaust so the piston decelerates smoothly near end of stroke - useful at higher speeds or with heavy moving loads. The cushion only decelerates; it is not a lock, hold or brake, and the cylinder will not hold position on air loss. Use an external rod lock or pilot check valve for a held load.
