A rod exits both covers with the same M8x1.25 male thread at each end, so the piston works on the rod-side area in both directions and delivers an equal force of about 131.9 N each way at 0.5 MPa (184.7 N at 0.7 MPa). Both ends carry a variable air cushion, adjustable with the cover needle screws, so the piston decelerates smoothly at each end of the 200 mm travel instead of slamming into the covers.
