About the Airtac MGCD Stainless Steel Mini Air Cylinder MGCD32X300

The AirTAC MGCD32X300 is a JIS-standard round-body mini cylinder, double acting, with a double rod: a 12 mm hard-chrome rod exits BOTH covers with the same M10x1.25 male thread at each end, so the two rod ends move together and you get equal output in both directions. Because both sides of the piston see the rod-side area, this 32 mm bore delivers about 345.6 N each way at 0.5 MPa and 483.8 N each way at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical maximum of 70.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Unlike a fixed bumper pad, this variant carries a variable air cushion at both ends, so you can tune the deceleration at each stroke end for smooth, high-speed stops. A practical rule of thumb: size the working load at about 0.6 of the 0.5 MPa force, which gives roughly 207 N, or about 18 kg for a safe vertical lift on this model.

Construction follows the JIS mini-cylinder footprint: a riveted SUS304 stainless barrel with hard-chrome plated rods for corrosion resistance and low wear, and a two-way lubricant-storing piston seal. It runs on air filtered to 40 um at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), tolerates a proof pressure of 1.5 MPa (215 psi), operates from -20 to +70 C, and covers speeds of 30-800 mm/s. Ports are 1/8" on both covers, the thread is PT, and mounting options are LB foot or FA flange plus I and Y rod knuckles. The rear rod end also gives you a convenient stop, flag, or second load point, and the through-rod provides natural anti-rotation guidance. Note that this unit is not fitted with the optional magnet (S code), so no CMSG/DMSG/EMSG sensor can be mounted unless you order the -S version.

Where the Airtac MGCD Stainless Steel Mini Air Cylinder MGCD32X300 Is Used

swap_horiz

High-speed anti-rotation transfer

The through-rod keeps the payload from twisting while the variable air cushion brakes each end smoothly, letting this 345.6 N cylinder cycle faster than a bumper-equipped unit at up to 800 mm/s.

compress

Twin-load press with soft stop

Rod ends on both covers carry two small fixtures or a workpiece and a stop, and the adjustable cushion gives a gentle landing for light pressing or staking at up to 483.8 N per direction.

sensors

Rear-switch slide on a long stroke

The rear rod end drives a flag or cam past a position switch on the 300 mm stroke, while the cushion damps the return; order the -S version to mount CMSG/DMSG/EMSG switches directly.

Is the Airtac MGCD Stainless Steel Mini Air Cylinder MGCD32X300 the Right Cylinder?

Choose the MGCD32X300 when you need a cushioned, double-acting cylinder with equal force in both directions and a 300 mm stroke: the through-rod gives anti-rotation guidance and a rear rod end for a stop, flag, or second load, while the variable air cushion at both ends lets you tune deceleration for higher speeds or heavier moving mass. At 345.6 N per direction at 0.5 MPa, this 32 mm bore sits in the middle of the MGCD range (20 to 63); step up to MGCD40 or MGCD50 for more force, or down to MGCD20/25 for lighter duty. If you need a double-rod cylinder with a fixed bumper instead of an adjustable cushion in bores 20-40, look at the MGD; if a single rod plus cushion is enough, the MGC is the equivalent single-rod type. Mount with LB foot or FA flange, add I or Y knuckles on the rod ends, and order the -S code if you want position sensing with CMSG, DMSG, or EMSG switches. For the long 300 mm stroke, keep side loads low or add external guidance, and remember the cushion only decelerates the stroke ends: it is not a lock, so use an external rod lock or pilot check valve if the load must be held on air loss.

Airtac MGCD Stainless Steel Mini Air Cylinder MGCD32X300 FAQ

Because the double rod exposes the rod-side area on both sides, output is equal in both directions: 345.6 N at 0.5 MPa and 483.8 N at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical maximum of 70.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) with a proof pressure of 1.5 MPa (215 psi), on air filtered to 40 um, from -20 to +70 C at 30-800 mm/s.

The MGCD has an adjustable air cushion at both stroke ends that you tune to decelerate the piston smoothly; it is not a fixed bumper pad (that is the MGD double-rod type) and it is not a brake, so an external rod lock or pilot check valve is needed to hold a load on air loss. Unlike the single-rod MGC, the MGCD's through-rod gives equal force both ways, anti-rotation guidance, and a rear rod end. The -S option adds a magnet for CMSG/DMSG/EMSG switches; this non-S model cannot take a sensor.
