The AirTAC MGCD40X400 is a double acting, double rod JIS round-body mini cylinder with a 40 mm bore and a 400 mm stroke. A rod exits both covers with the same M14x1.5 male thread at each end, so both sides of the piston see the rod-side area and the output force is equal in both directions: about 527.8 N at 0.5 MPa and 738.9 N at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical maximum of 107.6 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Both ends carry a variable air cushion, so the piston decelerates smoothly at each end of the long 400 mm travel instead of slamming into the covers, which allows higher speeds and heavier loads than an unbuffered cylinder.
The through-rod also gives you a usable rod end at the rear: mount a position flag, a second load, or use it for anti-rotation guidance on symmetric tooling. Choose the MGCD40X400 when you need equal force in both directions over a long 400 mm stroke with smooth, adjustable deceleration at each end: the variable air cushion suits high-speed or high-inertia moves that a bumper-type cylinder cannot stop cleanly. If you need a double-rod cylinder at bore 20-40 without cushioning, look at the MGD; if a single rod plus cushion is enough, the MGC covers that. For more force step up to bore 50 or 63 (824.3 N or 1400.9 N at 0.5 MPa each way); for less, step down to bore 32 or 25. Mounting is LB foot or FA flange, with I and Y rod knuckles available (no CB or SDB). Add the S code to fit CMSG, DMSG or ESG-style magnetic switches; without it no sensor can be mounted. The 400 mm stroke is within the 500 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore, but keep side loads on the rod low at full extension.
