About the Airtac PTL Exhaust Throttle Type Speed Control Valve PTL1003B-S
The PTL1003B-S is a meter-in speed controller with a push-lock cap instead of a knob. The thread end screws into the actuator port and the Dia 10 mm tube runs back to the valve, so air flowing out of the cylinder to the valve passes freely while the supply air entering the cylinder is throttled. That is the B control method: it eases the power stroke of a single-acting, spring-return cylinder, and the handle carries the B marking so line staff can tell it from the A meter-out version at a glance.
This -S build replaces the brass throttling column of the standard PTL with SUS304 stainless steel, with the body in aluminium alloy or SUS304 and a stainless spring gasket, giving copper-free internals for wash-down, marine and chemical atmospheres. Meter-Out or Meter-In?
- check Meter-out (A) is the default. It throttles the air LEAVING the cylinder, so the piston runs against a back-pressure cushion and moves smoothly.
- check Use meter-out on double-acting cylinders - it is the one AirTAC lists as first priority.
- check Meter-in (B) throttles air ENTERING the cylinder. It suits single-acting cylinders and air motors.
