Airtac SAILB Rear Lock Cylinder SAILB200X100

The AirTAC Airtac SAILB Rear Lock Cylinder SAILB200X100 is a genuine double-acting ISO 15552 profile cylinder with a Ø200mm bore, 100mm stroke and a built-in spring-applied, air-released mechanical lock in the back cover — it holds the load at the retracted (rod-in) stroke end even when air is lost.

About the Airtac SAILB Rear Lock Cylinder SAILB200X100

The AirTAC SAILB200X100 is a double-acting ISO 15552 profile cylinder featuring a spring-applied, air-released mechanical lock integrated into the back cover. This robust 200mm bore unit generates a substantial 15708N of push force at 0.5MPa, utilizing a 40mm carbon steel rod with PT tapered port threading. Because the lock resides in the rear end, it secures the piston precisely at the retracted stroke end, maintaining position without requiring continuous live air pressure.

Unlike a standard SAI cylinder, this SAIL model ensures power-loss safety by holding static loads automatically. The lock engages only after the cylinder fully stops at the stroke terminal, meaning it is not a dynamic brake for a moving rod. To unlock, you supply air to the release port or use the manual override lever. The locker end features a 28mm variable air cushion, which is shorter than the 50mm cushion on the free end, and the barrel accepts CMSE reed and DMSE electronic sensors if a magnet is added.

How the Lock Holds

The lock is spring-applied and air-released: a spring drives a lock pin into the rod when the release air is removed, so the load is held at the retracted (rod-in) stroke end without live pressure. Supply air to the release port to unlock automatically, or use the manual release lever.

The lock engages only when the piston reaches the stroke terminal on the back-cover side — it is a static end-of-stroke hold, not a mid-stroke clamp and not a moving-rod brake. For locking at any position along the stroke, choose a BSAI clamp-lock instead.

Valve & safety notes: do not use a fast-exhaust valve with a lock cylinder; use an independent/individual-exhaust solenoid valve, as back-pressure on the locker side can release the lock. If human safety depends on the load staying held, add an independent safety measure.

Cylinder thrust is separate from the lock's holding capability. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical due to friction and back-pressure — size with a margin.

Where the Airtac SAILB Rear Lock Cylinder SAILB200X100 Is Used

vertical_align_top

Vertical Power-Off Hold

Secures heavy lifted masses in the retracted position instantly when air supply drops, preventing crashes.

shield

Safety Gate Interlock

Maintains a locked barrier at the retracted stroke end during maintenance without relying on live pressure.

factory

Heavy Clamp Retention

Holds a massive workpiece clamped at the stroke terminal while secondary operations occur safely.

Is the Airtac SAILB Rear Lock Cylinder SAILB200X100 the Right Lock Cylinder?

Select this 200mm bore model when an application requires massive holding power at the retracted position, stepping up from the 160mm bore which yields 10053N push at 0.5MPa. If your load must be held at the extended rod-out position instead, choose the SAILF variant, or step down to the 125mm bore if 6136N is sufficient. For applications requiring the rod to be clamped at an arbitrary mid-stroke point rather than the stroke end, the BSAI clamp-lock cylinder is the correct choice.

Remember that this SAIL lock provides a static hold only at the stroke end, not a mid-stroke clamp. Valve selection is critical: never use a fast-exhaust valve with this lock cylinder, as back-pressure on the locker side can inadvertently release the lock; always use an independent-exhaust solenoid valve. If human safety depends on the load staying up, add an independent safety measure. Replacement matches require 200mm bore, 100mm stroke, back locker position, PT ports, and standard mounting options like Basic, FA, FB, CA, CB, CR, LB, TC, FTC, TCM1, or TCM2.

Quick checklist

  • ✓ Hold needed at the retracted (rod-in) end?
  • ✓ Or lock anywhere → use BSAI
  • ✓ Independent-exhaust valve fitted
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT/G)
  • ✓ Extra safety measure for people

Airtac SAILB Rear Lock Cylinder SAILB200X100 FAQ

At 0.5MPa, this 200mm bore cylinder provides 15708N of push force and 15080N of pull force. It operates at a speed range of 30-500mm/s and reaches a maximum push force of 3204kgf at 1.0MPa.

The lock is spring-applied and air-released, located in the back cover to hold the rod securely at the retracted stroke end. It engages statically after the piston stops, not as a mid-stroke clamp or dynamic brake. Unlocking is achieved automatically by supplying release air or manually via the override lever.
