Airtac SAILB Rear Lock Cylinder SAILB200X125S

The AirTAC Airtac SAILB Rear Lock Cylinder SAILB200X125S is a genuine double-acting ISO 15552 profile cylinder with a Ø200mm bore, 125mm stroke and a built-in spring-applied, air-released mechanical lock in the back cover — it holds the load at the retracted (rod-in) stroke end even when air is lost.

About the Airtac SAILB Rear Lock Cylinder SAILB200X125S

The AirTAC SAILB200X125-S is a double-acting ISO 15552 profile cylinder equipped with a mechanical lock in the back cover. Because the lock is spring-applied and air-released, cutting the release air drives a pin into the carbon steel rod, securely holding the load at the retracted stroke end without consuming live pressure. In this 200 mm bore class, it generates a push force of 15708 N and a pull force of 15080 N at 0.5 MPa, making it suitable for heavy-duty holding tasks.

This model includes a magnet (-S) for position sensing with AirTAC CMSE reed and DMSE electronic switches. The variable air cushion at the locker end measures 28 mm, intentionally shorter than the 50 mm cushion at the free end to accommodate the locking mechanism. You can release the lock automatically by supplying air to the release port or by using the manual release lever.

How the Lock Holds

The lock is spring-applied and air-released: a spring drives a lock pin into the rod when the release air is removed, so the load is held at the retracted (rod-in) stroke end without live pressure. Supply air to the release port to unlock automatically, or use the manual release lever.

The lock engages only when the piston reaches the stroke terminal on the back-cover side — it is a static end-of-stroke hold, not a mid-stroke clamp and not a moving-rod brake. For locking at any position along the stroke, choose a BSAI clamp-lock instead.

Valve & safety notes: do not use a fast-exhaust valve with a lock cylinder; use an independent/individual-exhaust solenoid valve, as back-pressure on the locker side can release the lock. If human safety depends on the load staying held, add an independent safety measure.

0.5 MPa15708 N15080 N

Cylinder thrust is separate from the lock's holding capability. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical due to friction and back-pressure — size with a margin.

Where the Airtac SAILB Rear Lock Cylinder SAILB200X125S Is Used

vertical_align_top

Heavy Vertical Lifts

Secures elevated platforms or massive lifting arms in the retracted position instantly if air pressure drops, preventing catastrophic falls.

precision_manufacturing

Press Holdback

Holds a heavy press ram retracted safely during power loss or maintenance, ensuring the tooling remains open without relying on air pressure.

Gate Safety

Locks large industrial loading gates in the closed position, using the spring-applied mechanism to resist high external forces.

Is the Airtac SAILB Rear Lock Cylinder SAILB200X125S the Right Lock Cylinder?

Choose this 200 mm bore when you need immense load-holding capacity; if your application requires less force, stepping down to a 160 mm bore provides 10053 N push at 0.5 MPa. Select the SAILB configuration when the load must be secured in the retracted position, and choose SAILF if it must be held extended. If your process requires clamping at an arbitrary mid-stroke point rather than the stroke end, the BSAI clamp-lock cylinder is the correct choice instead of this SAIL series.

This SAIL lock provides a static hold that engages after the cylinder stops, meaning it is not a dynamic brake for a moving rod. Valve selection is critical: avoid fast-exhaust valves and use an independent-exhaust solenoid valve, as back-pressure on the locker side can inadvertently release the lock. For safety-critical loads that could injure operators if they drop, always add an independent mechanical safety measure. Replacement specifications must match the 200 mm bore, 125 mm stroke, PT tapered ports, and the full ISO 15552 mounting interface (Basic, FA, FB, CA, CB, CR, LB, TC, FTC, TCM1, TCM2).

Airtac SAILB Rear Lock Cylinder SAILB200X125S FAQ

At 0.5 MPa operating pressure, this 200 mm bore cylinder provides a push force of 15708 N and a pull force of 15080 N. At the maximum 1.0 MPa pressure, the push force reaches 3204 kgf.

The lock is spring-applied and air-released, located in the back cover to hold the rod only at the retracted stroke end. It engages statically after the piston stops and can be released automatically via air supply or manually via a lever; it does not clamp at mid-stroke.
