Airtac SAILB Rear Lock Cylinder SAILB200X75

The AirTAC Airtac SAILB Rear Lock Cylinder SAILB200X75 is a genuine double-acting ISO 15552 profile cylinder with a Ø200mm bore, 75mm stroke and a built-in spring-applied, air-released mechanical lock in the back cover — it holds the load at the retracted (rod-in) stroke end even when air is lost.

About the Airtac SAILB Rear Lock Cylinder SAILB200X75

The AirTAC SAILB200X75 is a double-acting ISO 15552 profile cylinder equipped with a spring-applied, air-released mechanical lock housed in the back cover. This built-in mechanism engages automatically to hold the load securely at the retracted stroke end whenever the release air is cut, dropping the rod safely into place without requiring live pressure. Designed for heavy-duty tasks, it generates 15708N of push force and 15080N of pull force at 0.5 MPa.

Because the lock occupies the rear endcap, the variable air cushion on that locker end is shortened to 28mm compared to the 50mm cushion on the front end. The extruded aluminum barrel features sensor grooves on both sides for CMSE or DMSE switches, though this specific configuration ships without a magnet. The carbon steel rod utilizes an M36x2 thread, and fluid supply connects via 3/4 PT tapered ports.

How the Lock Holds

The lock is spring-applied and air-released: a spring drives a lock pin into the rod when the release air is removed, so the load is held at the retracted (rod-in) stroke end without live pressure. Supply air to the release port to unlock automatically, or use the manual release lever.

The lock engages only when the piston reaches the stroke terminal on the back-cover side — it is a static end-of-stroke hold, not a mid-stroke clamp and not a moving-rod brake. For locking at any position along the stroke, choose a BSAI clamp-lock instead.

Valve & safety notes: do not use a fast-exhaust valve with a lock cylinder; use an independent/individual-exhaust solenoid valve, as back-pressure on the locker side can release the lock. If human safety depends on the load staying held, add an independent safety measure.

Cylinder thrust is separate from the lock's holding capability. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical due to friction and back-pressure — size with a margin.

Where the Airtac SAILB Rear Lock Cylinder SAILB200X75 Is Used

precision_manufacturing

Heavy Press Hold

Secures a massive press platen in the retracted home position during power loss, utilizing the back-cover lock to prevent gravity-driven drops.

warehouse

Vertical Lift Safety

Holds a heavy vertical lifting platform safely at the bottom stroke end when air pressure is removed, ensuring the load remains parked without consuming live air.

factory

Clamp and Park

Locks heavy industrial clamps open at the retracted terminal to allow robotic loading, maintaining a zero-energy state during the work cycle.

Is the Airtac SAILB Rear Lock Cylinder SAILB200X75 the Right Lock Cylinder?

Select this 200mm bore when an application demands massive thrust up to 15708N at 0.5 MPa, or step down to a 160mm bore if 10053N is sufficient for your cycle. Choose the SAILB configuration when the load must be secured in the retracted position; if your process requires holding the rod out, the SAILF variant is the correct match. For applications needing the rod clamped at an arbitrary mid-stroke point rather than a stroke end, the BSAI clamp-lock cylinder is required instead.

This lock is a static holding device that engages only after the cylinder has stopped moving, not a dynamic brake. Pneumatic routing must avoid fast-exhaust valves, as back-pressure on the locker side can inadvertently release the lock; utilize an independent-exhaust solenoid valve. If personnel safety relies on the load remaining retracted, always add an independent mechanical safety measure. Replacement specifications require a 200mm bore, 75mm stroke, back locker position, 3/4 PT ports, and standard carbon steel rod material.

Quick checklist

  • ✓ Hold needed at the retracted (rod-in) end?
  • ✓ Or lock anywhere → use BSAI
  • ✓ Independent-exhaust valve fitted
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT/G)
  • ✓ Extra safety measure for people

Airtac SAILB Rear Lock Cylinder SAILB200X75 FAQ

At 0.5 MPa operating pressure, this 200mm bore cylinder provides 15708N of push force and 15080N of pull force. At 0.7 MPa, the push force increases to 21991N.

The lock is spring-applied and air-released, engaging only at the retracted stroke end to hold the load statically without live pressure. It unlocks automatically via air supply or manually via a lever, but it is not a mid-stroke clamp or a dynamic brake.
