About the Airtac SC80 Standard Cylinder SC80X820TC

The SC80X820TC is an 80 mm bore double-acting pneumatic cylinder with an 820 mm stroke, factory-assembled with a centre trunnion pivot (TC mount). At 0.5 MPa it delivers 2513 N push and 2268 N pull, rising to 4523 N push at the 0.9 MPa maximum operating pressure, making it a capable mid-range actuator for swinging or pivoting loads.

This tie-rod cylinder uses a 25 mm diameter piston rod with M20x1.5 male threads and PT3/8 ports. The adjustable air cushion at each end (28 mm cushion length) decelerates the piston smoothly, and the body length A is 182 mm. The TC mount includes the TCM1 trunnion bracket (part F-SC80TC), allowing the cylinder to pivot as it strokes.

Where the Airtac SC80 Standard Cylinder SC80X820TC Is Used

conveyor_belt

Conveyor Diverter Gates

The 820 mm stroke and pivoting trunnion mount suit long-throw diverter gates on packaging or sorting conveyors, where the cylinder body swings to follow the gate arc.

precision_manufacturing

Welding Fixture Clamping

Delivers 2513 N at 0.5 MPa for holding large weldments. The centre trunnion allows the cylinder to pivot into position, and the adjustable cushion protects the fixture from impact at stroke end.

Dock Leveler Lip Extension

Powers the extending lip on a hydraulic-free dock leveler. The 820 mm stroke provides the reach, and the trunnion mount accommodates the angular change as the lip deploys and retracts.

Is the Airtac SC80 Standard Cylinder SC80X820TC the Right Cylinder?

Choose the SC80 when your application needs roughly 2513 N of push force at standard plant air; stepping down to a 63 mm bore reduces that to 1559 N, while stepping up to a 100 mm bore provides 3927 N at the same 0.5 MPa. For this 820 mm stroke, ensure the rod is not subjected to side load—long, unsupported rods can bend under lateral force. If the load is not guided externally, add an external guide or consider a guided cylinder.

To replace an existing cylinder, match five points: 80 mm bore, 820 mm stroke, PT3/8 port thread, centre trunnion (TC) mounting with the TCM1 bracket, and the absence of a magnet. The SC is a tie-rod cylinder and is shorter than an ISO 15552 profile; it will only drop in where the original is an AirTAC SC or an equivalent tie-rod design.

Installation & Maintenance Notes

  • check Use clean air filtered to 40µm or finer.
  • check Keep within 0.15 – 1.0 MPa operating pressure.
  • check Avoid side load on the piston rod.
  • check Adjust end cushion screws for smooth stops.
  • check Use correct mounting accessory (FA/FB/CA/CB/LB/TC).
  • check Installation by qualified personnel per AirTAC docs.

Airtac SC80 Standard Cylinder SC80X820TC FAQ

At 0.5 MPa (5 bar) the cylinder pushes with 2513 N and pulls with 2268 N. At the maximum operating pressure of 0.9 MPa, push force reaches 4523 N. The theoretical maximum at 1.0 MPa is 513 kgf.

No. The adjustable air cushion only decelerates the piston near the end of the stroke to reduce impact—it does not hold or lock the load. If the application requires position holding when air pressure is lost, you must add an external rod brake, a mechanical lock, or a pilot-operated check valve.
