This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is SAUD32X80 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the SAUD32X80 in place of this model. The SAU replacement uses the same profile body, bore, stroke, force and SC-series mounting. It moves to the current CMSG / DMSG / EMSG sensor switches (the SU used CS1-B / DS1-B) and adds the SAUF valve-integrated option.

The AirTAC Airtac SUD Series Double Rod Cylinder SUD32X80 is a double-acting profile-type standard cylinder with a Ø32mm bore and 80mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and adjustable end cushioning. This model is discontinued — the drop-in replacement is the SAUD32X80, which matches its bore, stroke, force and mounting.
The AirTAC SUD32X80 is a double-acting, double-rod profile cylinder featuring an extruded aluminum barrel. Because a rod exits both ends, the push and pull force is equal both ways at 345 N @0.5 MPa, 483 N @0.7 MPa, and 621 N @0.9 MPa. This model is discontinued; the exact drop-in replacement is the SAUD32X80, retaining the 32 mm bore, 80 mm stroke, 1/8" port, and FA/LB mounting. This non-magnetic SKU cannot take a sensor.
The dual-rod design prevents piston rotation and allows driving two tools simultaneously from one compact body. For sizing, the safe working load is roughly 207 N (60% of the 345 N @0.5 MPa figure), yielding a vertical lift capacity of about 18 kg with a 2:1 margin. Note that air cushions only decelerate near stroke end; use an external rod lock for load holding on air loss.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC SU datasheet (now discontinued). The SAUD32X80 carries the same ratings. Confirm against the product label before installation. Thread options: PT / G / NPT.

The SAUD32X80 produces the same force from the same bore — a true drop-in on output. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

Legacy SU-family variants: SUD (double rod), SUJ (adjustable stroke) — each maps to its SAU equivalent (SUD→SAUD, SUJ→SAUJ). The current SAU line adds the SAUF valve-integrated option.
Simultaneously actuates two opposing grippers or punches from a single compact body, using the second rod end to carry the tooling directly.
Transfers delicate components between stations where the twin rods prevent the piston from twisting during transit, eliminating guide bind.
Pushes a part off a conveyor lane with equal push and pull force, allowing the rear rod to mount a mechanical stop cam for external sequencing.
To replace the discontinued SUD32X80, install the drop-in SAUD32X80 which matches the 32 mm bore, 80 mm stroke, 1/8" port, M10x1.25 rod thread, and FA/LB mounting. Because force is equal both ways, verify your load against the 345 N @0.5 MPa rating, sizing up to a 40 mm bore if higher output is needed. Select a double-rod cylinder when anti-rotation or dual-tool driving is required. This non-magnetic base SKU cannot accept switches; upgrading to an -S SAUD requires changing legacy CS1-B/DS1-B sensors to current CMSG/DMSG/EMSG models. For strokes of 300 mm or longer, carefully manage side-load alignment to prevent guide wear.
Replacement checklist
Yes, the SUD32X80 is discontinued. The exact drop-in replacement is the SAUD32X80, which matches the 32 mm bore, 80 mm stroke, 1/8" port, and FA/LB mounting. The SAUD body uses current CMSG/DMSG/EMSG sensors, whereas this legacy model used CS1-B/DS1-B switches.
Being a double-rod cylinder, the force is equal both ways: 345 N @0.5 MPa, 483 N @0.7 MPa, and 621 N @0.9 MPa. It operates at 30-800 mm/s with a 12 mm rod, M10x1.25 thread, and 21 mm adjustable cushions at each end.
