This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is SAUD50X25 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the SAUD50X25 in place of this model. The SAU replacement uses the same profile body, bore, stroke, force and SC-series mounting. It moves to the current CMSG / DMSG / EMSG sensor switches (the SU used CS1-B / DS1-B) and adds the SAUF valve-integrated option.

The AirTAC Airtac SUD Series Double Rod Cylinder SUD50X25 is a double-acting profile-type standard cylinder with a Ø50mm bore and 25mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and adjustable end cushioning. This model is discontinued — the drop-in replacement is the SAUD50X25, which matches its bore, stroke, force and mounting.
The AirTAC SUD50X25 is a double-acting, double-rod profile cylinder featuring a 50mm bore and 25mm stroke. Because a piston rod exits both ends, the effective working area is identical in both directions, yielding equal push and pull force of 825N at 0.5MPa, 1154N at 0.7MPa, and 1484N at 0.9MPa. The extruded aluminium profile barrel is more compact than standard cylinders, and the 1/4" port drives speeds of 30-800mm/s. This SUD50X25 model is discontinued; the exact drop-in replacement is the SAUD50X25, matching the bore, stroke, 1/4" port, and FA/LB mounting.
This non-magnetic SKU cannot accept a sensing switch, but upgrading to the SAUD50X25 allows modern CMSG/DMSG/EMSG sensors to replace the legacy CS1-B/DS1-B switches. The dual-rod design prevents rotation and can drive two tools simultaneously. For sizing, the safe working load is approximately 495N (60% of the 825N @0.5MPa figure), allowing a vertical lift of about 42kg with a 2:1 margin. Note that air cushions only decelerate the piston; an external rod lock is required to hold loads without live air.

The SAUD50X25 produces the same force from the same bore — a true drop-in on output. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

Legacy SU-family variants: SUD (double rod), SUJ (adjustable stroke) — each maps to its SAU equivalent (SUD→SAUD, SUJ→SAUJ). The current SAU line adds the SAUF valve-integrated option.
Simultaneously drives two opposing grippers to pick and place parts from both sides of a workstation without requiring a second actuator.
Lifts guided vertical platens where a single rod might twist under offset loads, keeping the payload perfectly stable throughout the 25mm travel.
Synchronizes pushing and pulling actions on a conveyor line, using the equal both-ways force to shuttle items back and forth accurately.
To replace the discontinued SUD50X25, use the SAUD50X25 drop-in, which retains the 50mm bore, 25mm stroke, 1/4" port, and FA/LB mounting. When sizing both ways, verify force at neighbouring bores: the 40mm yields 528/739/950N and the 63mm yields 1402/1962/2523N (@0.5/@0.7/@0.9MPa). Choose a double-rod cylinder when you need anti-rotation, a back rod to carry a sensor cam, or to drive two tools. This non-magnetic SKU takes no switch; the SAUD upgrade uses CMSG/DMSG/EMSG sensors instead of CS1-B/DS1-B. For strokes >=300mm, calculate side-load carefully to prevent guide wear. Cushions only decelerate; use an external rod lock for load holding.
Replacement checklist
Yes, the SUD50X25 is discontinued. The exact drop-in replacement is the SAUD50X25, which matches the 50mm bore, 25mm stroke, 1/4" port, and FA/LB mounting.
Because it is a double-rod cylinder, force is equal both ways: 825N @0.5MPa, 1154N @0.7MPa, and 1484N @0.9MPa. The fixed port size for the 50mm bore is 1/4".
