This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is SAUD63X50S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the SAUD63X50S in place of this model. The SAU replacement uses the same profile body, bore, stroke, force and SC-series mounting. It moves to the current CMSG / DMSG / EMSG sensor switches (the SU used CS1-B / DS1-B) and adds the SAUF valve-integrated option.

Airtac SUD Series Double Rod Cylinder SUD63X50S

The AirTAC Airtac SUD Series Double Rod Cylinder SUD63X50S is a double-acting profile-type standard cylinder with a Ø63mm bore and 50mm stroke, 3/8" air ports and adjustable end cushioning. This model is discontinued — the drop-in replacement is the SAUD63X50S, which matches its bore, stroke, force and mounting.

About the Airtac SUD Series Double Rod Cylinder SUD63X50S

The AirTAC SUD63X50S is a double-acting, double-rod profile cylinder featuring an extruded aluminium barrel that is notably shorter than an ISO 15552 unit of the same bore. Because a rod exits both ends on one piston, both faces use the rod-side area, making push and pull force equal at 1402 N @0.5 MPa, 1962 N @0.7 MPa, and 2523 N @0.9 MPa. This SUD model is discontinued; the exact drop-in replacement is the SAUD63X50S, which retains the 63 mm bore, 50 mm stroke, 3/8" port, and FA/LB mounting.

With a 1402 N output at 0.5 MPa, the computed safe working load is roughly 841 N, and it can vertically lift about 71 kg with a 2:1 margin. The rear rod provides an anti-rotation benefit and carries a sensor cam for the built-in piston magnet. This unit uses legacy CS1-B/DS1-B switches, whereas the SAUD successor uses current CMSG/DMSG/EMSG sensors. A plain cylinder does not hold loads on air loss; the 21 mm adjustable cushions only decelerate near stroke end, so use an external rod lock for held loads.

Where the Airtac SUD Series Double Rod Cylinder SUD63X50S Is Used

precision_manufacturing

Dual-Tool Machining Station

Drives two opposing tools simultaneously from one piston, utilising the equal both-ways force to machine parts efficiently on both ends.

conveyor_belt

Anti-Rotation Transfer Gate

The twin-rod geometry prevents mechanical twisting during rapid part diversion on a conveyor line, ensuring smooth package routing.

Symmetric Push-Pull Sorter

Applies identical 1402 N clamping force in both directions at 0.5 MPa to centre products securely without asymmetric drift.

Replacing the Airtac SUD Series Double Rod Cylinder SUD63X50S with the SAUD63X50S

To replace the discontinued SUD63X50S, specify the SAUD63X50S drop-in upgrade, matching the 50 mm stroke, 63 mm bore, 3/8" port, and FA/LB mounting. When sizing both ways, verify the equal push/pull force fits your needs; neighbouring bores (50 mm or 80 mm) offer different outputs if margins require adjustment. Choose a double-rod cylinder when you need anti-rotation stability or must drive two tools simultaneously. For the -S magnet option, note that legacy CS1-B/DS1-B sensors must change to CMSG/DMSG/EMSG on the SAUD. For any stroke >=300 mm, confirm the side-load rating to prevent guide wear.

Airtac SUD Series Double Rod Cylinder SUD63X50S FAQ

Yes, the SUD63X50S is discontinued. The exact drop-in replacement is the SAUD63X50S, which matches the 63 mm bore, 50 mm stroke, 3/8" port, and FA/LB mounting. You must upgrade the piston magnet sensors from legacy CS1-B/DS1-B to the current CMSG/DMSG/EMSG series.

Because it is a double-rod cylinder, force is equal both ways: 1402 N @0.5 MPa, 1962 N @0.7 MPa, and 2523 N @0.9 MPa. The air port is 3/8" PT thread. The computed safe working load is about 841 N, allowing a 71 kg vertical lift with a 2:1 margin.
