This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is SAUD80X600S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the SAUD80X600S in place of this model. The SAU replacement uses the same profile body, bore, stroke, force and SC-series mounting. It moves to the current CMSG / DMSG / EMSG sensor switches (the SU used CS1-B / DS1-B) and adds the SAUF valve-integrated option.

Airtac SUD Series Double Rod Cylinder SUD80X600S

The AirTAC Airtac SUD Series Double Rod Cylinder SUD80X600S is a double-acting profile-type standard cylinder with a Ø80mm bore and 600mm stroke, 3/8" air ports and adjustable end cushioning. This model is discontinued — the drop-in replacement is the SAUD80X600S, which matches its bore, stroke, force and mounting.

About the Airtac SUD Series Double Rod Cylinder SUD80X600S

The AirTAC SUD80X600S is a discontinued double-acting double-rod profile cylinder featuring a 80mm bore and 600mm stroke. A rod exits both ends on one piston, meaning both faces use the rod-side area and push/pull force is equal both ways (2268 N @0.5 MPa). It uses an extruded aluminium profile barrel and a 3/8" port. This legacy model is replaced by the drop-in SAUD80X600S, which retains the exact bore, stroke, force, port and FA/LB mounting.

The SAUD upgrade switches to current CMSG/DMSG/EMSG sensors from the legacy CS1-B/DS1-B switches used here. The back rod carries a sensor cam and drives two tools simultaneously with anti-rotation benefits. For the 2268 N @0.5 MPa force, the safe working load is ~1361 N, yielding a vertical lift capacity of ~116 kg with a 2:1 margin. Note that a plain cylinder does not hold loads on air loss; the cushion only decelerates near stroke end, so use an external rod lock for held loads.

Where the Airtac SUD Series Double Rod Cylinder SUD80X600S Is Used

precision_manufacturing

Dual-Tool Machining

Drives two opposing machining heads simultaneously with equal push and pull force, ensuring perfectly balanced material removal without rotation.

conveyor_belt

Anti-Rotation Transfer

Transfers workpieces across a conveyor using the twin-rod geometry to prevent mechanical twist during high-speed lateral indexing.

warehouse

Symmetric Clamping

Clamps heavy components from both sides evenly, using the equal both ways force to maintain alignment and prevent workpiece deformation.

Replacing the Airtac SUD Series Double Rod Cylinder SUD80X600S with the SAUD80X600S

To replace this discontinued SUD80X600S, use the drop-in SAUD80X600S, keeping the 80mm bore, 600mm stroke, 3175 N @0.7 MPa equal force, 3/8" port and FA/LB mounting. Size both ways by checking neighbour bores (63mm or 100mm) to ensure the equal-both-ways force fits your system. Choose a double-rod cylinder when you need anti-rotation, dual-tool driving, or a back rod sensor cam. The -S suffix means a piston magnet is present; you must change legacy CS1-B/DS1-B switches to CMSG/DMSG/EMSG sensors for the SAUD. For this 600mm stroke, add external guides to prevent rod bending and side-load damage.

Airtac SUD Series Double Rod Cylinder SUD80X600S FAQ

Yes, the SUD80X600S is discontinued. The exact drop-in replacement is the SAUD80X600S. It matches the 80mm bore, 600mm stroke, equal both ways force, 3/8" port and FA/LB mounting. You only need to swap the legacy CS1-B/DS1-B sensors to current CMSG/DMSG/EMSG models.

The double-rod design provides equal force both ways: 2268 N @0.5 MPa, 3175 N @0.7 MPa, and 4082 N @0.9 MPa. Operating speed is 30-800 mm/s. The cylinder uses a 3/8" port, a M20x1.5 rod thread, and 28mm adjustable cushions at each end.
