About the GC400C15F2 AirTAC F.R.L. Combination, PT1/2

The AirTAC GC series is a three-piece F.R.L. combination: a separate air filter, a pressure regulator and an oil-mist lubricator assembled as one air-preparation set. This GC400C15F2 is built on the size 400 body with a PT1/2 (1/2 in) PT thread port. The filter section carries the standard 40 um element with a differential-pressure drain and a polycarbonate bowl; the regulator is the standard type with an adjustment range of 0.15-0.9 MPa (20-130 psi) and a fitted embedded square gauge scaled in psi; the lubricator feeds oil mist downstream to protect air tools and cylinders. Maximum inlet pressure is 1.0 MPa (145 psi) and the working temperature range is -5 to 70 C (non-freezing). A mounting bracket is included.

This is a genuine AirTAC part. The GC series is available in sizes 200, 300, 400 and 600, with options including a 5 um filter element (code W), automatic or manual drains, G (BSPP) or NPT threads in place of the PT standard, and gauge scales in MPa, psi or bar. Rated flow for this series is published as curves rather than a single figure, so ask us and we will confirm the datasheet figures for your application on request.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC G-series air-preparation data. The regulating band is set by the drain type: automatic and differential-pressure drains regulate 0.15 - 0.9 MPa, a manual drain regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa. Standard type, regulating 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi). The combination has no separate bracket code — the three units couple together with their own mounting hardware. Flow curves, weight and outline dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.

Field order is size, port, drain, type, gauge, shape, scale, grade, thread, reflux — there is no bracket position on a combination. Constituent units, orderable separately as spares: GF400-C1 filter, GR400-C1 regulator and GL400-C1 lubricator.

Size Class & How It Differs From GFC

  • GC200PT1/8" - PT1/4"
  • GC300PT1/4" - PT1/2"
  • GC400PT3/8" - PT1/2"
  • GC600PT3/4" - PT1"

A GC is three separate units, so the filter and the regulator can each be serviced or replaced on their own. A GFC is the two-unit set, where filtering and regulating share one body — shorter, but the two functions come as one part. Both filter, regulate and lubricate.

Where the GC400C15F2 AirTAC F.R.L. Combination, PT1/2 Is Used

precision_manufacturing

CNC machine tool clamping circuit

On a CNC machining centre, clean, regulated and lubricated air feeds the pneumatic clamping and tool-change actuators. The filter removes water and chips-laden particulate from the shop main, the regulator holds a steady set pressure for repeatable clamp force, and the lubricator mists oil to the cylinders. The square psi gauge lets the setter read the clamp pressure directly.

Carton-sealing packaging line

A high-cycle carton sealer or case packer runs cylinders and air cylinders continuously through a shift. This three-unit set at the machine drop conditions the supply: 40 um filtration protects the valve stack, the regulator pins the operating pressure so cycle behaviour stays consistent, and the oil mist extends seal and cylinder life. The differential-pressure drain keeps the bowl clear during production.

build

Pneumatic assembly tool station

At an assembly bench running impact drivers, nutrunners and air ratchets, this F.R.L. set is the point-of-use conditioner. It dries and filters the plant supply, sets the tool pressure on the psi gauge so torque output stays repeatable, and meters lubricating oil into the air stream that the tools depend on. The included bracket mounts the set at the bench regulator position.

Is the GC400C15F2 AirTAC F.R.L. Combination, PT1/2 the Right Station?

Start with the port and size step: this unit is size 400 with a PT1/2 port; if your line runs smaller or larger mains, the GC series steps through 200, 300, 400 and 600, so match the size to the pipe and the flow demand of the downstream circuit. Choose the drain to suit attendance on site: differential-pressure (as fitted here) drains on load changes, automatic (code A) suits unattended installations, and manual (code M) suits supervised points. Choose the filter grade: 40 um is the standard element for general plant air; specify 5 um (code W) where finer protection is needed. Set the gauge scale to the units your team reads - this unit carries a square psi gauge, with MPa and bar available. Thread is PT as standard; G (BSPP) and NPT are order options, and a mounting bracket is included.

One honest note on sizing: AirTAC publishes flow for this series as curves, not as a single rated number, so we do not quote a flow figure here. Send us your application details and we will confirm the sizing against the datasheet curves before you order.

Quick checklist

  • ✓ Body size for your peak flow (See datasheet here)
  • ✓ Element 40 µm or 5 µm
  • ✓ Drain sets the regulating band
  • ✓ Gauge fitted, shape and scale
  • ✓ Three-unit (GC) or two-unit (GFC) layout
  • ✓ Oil mist acceptable downstream

Installation & Maintenance Notes

  • check Install with the airflow arrow: filter first, lubricator last.
  • check Mount vertically, bowls down.
  • check Keep inlet pressure at or below 1.0 MPa (145 psi).
  • check Adjust only within 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi).
  • check Drain condensate before the bowl fills; check the oil level.
  • check Keep the station above freezing (-5 to +70 °C, unfreeze).

The PC bowls must not be cleaned with solvents — wipe them with a dry cloth. The lubricator adds an oil mist downstream of the regulator. If any branch of the line must stay oil-free, take that branch off before the lubricator, or use a GR400-C1 regulator with a GF400-C1 filter on that branch.

GC400C15F2 AirTAC F.R.L. Combination, PT1/2 FAQ

AirTAC publishes flow for the GC series as performance curves rather than a single rated figure, so we do not state a flow number on the page. Tell us your line pressure, downstream demand and acceptable pressure drop, and we will confirm the flow figures from the datasheet for this PT1/2 unit on request before you order.

The GC is a separate filter, regulator and lubricator assembled as one combination, so each element can be serviced or replaced on its own and the lubricator sits in the same train. This unit uses the standard 40 um element with a differential-pressure drain; if your installation is unattended, ask about the automatic-drain version, or the 5 um element (code W) where finer filtration is needed.
