GFR400-10 AirTAC Filter Regulator, NPT 3/8 in, 5 um

The AirTAC GFR400-10 AirTAC Filter Regulator, NPT 3/8 in, 5 um is a genuine G-series filter regulator: water separation, 5 µm particulate filtration and balanced-type pressure regulation combined in a single body. It has PT3/8" ports, a automatic drain and regulates 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi). It does not lubricate — add a GL lubricator, or order the GFC two-unit set, if downstream equipment needs oil.

About the GFR400-10 AirTAC Filter Regulator, NPT 3/8 in, 5 um

The AirTAC GFR400-10 is a filter regulator: it removes water and particulate from compressed air and sets a stable downstream pressure in a single body. This size 400 unit is specified with a 3/8 in NPT port, a 5 um filter element (code W) for finer filtration than the 40 um standard, an automatic drain that expels collected condensate without manual attention, and a round external gauge with an MPa scale. The regulator is the standard type with an adjustment range of 0.15-0.9 MPa (20-130 psi), and maximum inlet pressure is 1.0 MPa (145 psi). Operating temperature is -5 to 70 C, non-freezing.

This is a genuine AirTAC part. The GFR400 series is available in multiple port sizes with a choice of drain type (differential-pressure, automatic or manual), filter grade (40 um standard, 5 um optional), gauge style and scale, and G or NPT thread options to order. Flow is published as curves rather than a single rated figure, so we confirm the datasheet and sizing figures on request.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC G-series air-preparation data. The regulating band is set by the drain type: automatic and differential-pressure drains regulate 0.15 - 0.9 MPa, a manual drain regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa. Standard type, regulating 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi). Air must not freeze in the unit. Flow curves, weight and outline dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.

CGauge shape: Round. C is round, F is square.
1Gauge scale: MPa. 1 is MPa, 2 is psi, 3 is bar.
WFiltering grade 5 µm. Only 40 µm (blank) and 5 µm (W) exist.
TNPT thread. PT is the default; G is BSPP and T is NPT.
(blank)No reverse-flow valve (the default).

Field order is size, port, drain, type, bracket, gauge, shape, scale, grade, thread, reflux — a blank position takes the default. Example: GFR300-08 is a 300 body, PT1/4", differential drain, standard type, bracket included, gauge fitted, 40 µm, PT thread, no reflux valve.

A larger body carries a larger port and holds set pressure better as flow rises. AirTAC publishes flow only as curves, so size the body from your peak demand with headroom. The GFR600 uses an aluminium-alloy bowl; the 200, 300 and 400 bodies use PC.

Where the GFR400-10 AirTAC Filter Regulator, NPT 3/8 in, 5 um Is Used

precision_manufacturing

CNC machining centre air supply

Feeds filtered, pressure-regulated air to the tool-change cylinders and pneumatic clamps on a machining centre, with the 5 um element protecting close-tolerance valves from particulate carryover.

conveyor_belt

Packaging line actuator supply

Sits at the drop point of a packaging conveyor's air ring main, conditioning supply for diverters, sealers and pusher cylinders while the automatic drain handles condensate on a line that runs unattended.

factory

Paint spray booth regulator station

Provides clean, regulated air to spray guns and air-assisted applicators in a finishing booth, where the 5 um grade helps keep moisture and debris out of the finish and the gauge lets operators set and check line pressure.

Is the GFR400-10 AirTAC Filter Regulator, NPT 3/8 in, 5 um the Right Unit?

Size 400 with a 3/8 in port suits lines that need more flow than the 200/300 sizes; match the port step to your supply line and expected demand. Choose the 5 um element (this configuration) when downstream valves or instruments need finer filtration than the 40 um standard. The automatic drain suits unattended or hard-to-reach installations; manual and differential-pressure drains are the alternatives. The round MPa gauge is fitted here; square gauges and psi or bar scales are options. NPT thread is specified on this code, with G (BSPP) and PT available to order, and a mounting bracket is included.

Because flow is published as curves rather than a single rating, ask us to confirm sizing against your application before ordering.

Quick checklist

  • ✓ Body size for your peak flow (PT3/8" here)
  • ✓ Element 40 µm or 5 µm
  • ✓ Drain sets the regulating band
  • ✓ Gauge fitted, shape and scale
  • ✓ Thread PT, G (BSPP) or NPT
  • ✓ Oil needed downstream? Use GFC instead

Installation & Maintenance Notes

  • check Mount vertically, bowl down, following the airflow arrow.
  • check One body does the filtering and the regulating — no separate regulator needed.
  • check Keep inlet pressure at or below 1.0 MPa (145 psi).
  • check Adjust only within 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi).
  • check Drain condensate before the bowl fills.
  • check Keep the unit above freezing (-5 to +70 °C, unfreeze).

The PC bowl must not be cleaned with solvents — wipe it with a dry cloth. Without the K option, air cannot flow back through the unit. A filter regulator adds no oil to the line.

GFR400-10 AirTAC Filter Regulator, NPT 3/8 in, 5 um FAQ

AirTAC publishes GFR400 flow as curves rather than a single rated figure, so we do not quote a l/min, m3/h or SCFM number. Send us your application details and we will confirm the datasheet curves and sizing on request.

This unit carries drain code A: an automatic drain that expels collected condensate by itself, which suits installations that are hard to reach or run unattended. The alternatives in the GFR400 series are a manual drain and the differential-pressure drain (the default when no drain code appears), which can be selected on order.
