The AirTAC GFR400-10 AirTAC Filter Regulator NPT3/8 5um Auto Drain is a genuine G-series filter regulator: water separation, 5 µm particulate filtration and balanced-type pressure regulation combined in a single body. It has PT3/8" ports, a automatic drain and regulates 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi). It does not lubricate — add a GL lubricator, or order the GFC two-unit set, if downstream equipment needs oil.
The AirTAC GFR400-10 is a filter regulator: it removes water and particulate from compressed air and regulates downstream pressure in a single body. This 400-size unit is fitted with a 3/8 in NPT port, a 5 um filter element (the finer W grade, versus the standard 40 um), an automatic drain that ejects collected condensate without operator attention, and an external round gauge reading in psi. It is the low-pressure (L) type, and it is supplied without a mounting bracket. The polycarbonate bowl is transparent for a visual check of condensate and element condition.
This is a genuine AirTAC part. The GFR family is published in sizes 200, 300, 400 and 600, with port options from 1/8 in to 1 in, G/NPT thread variants, manual, automatic or differential-pressure drains, 40 um or 5 um elements, and gauge choices. Flow is published as curves rather than a single rated figure, so ask us to confirm the datasheet figures for your application before ordering.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC G-series air-preparation data. The regulating band is set by the drain type: automatic and differential-pressure drains regulate 0.15 - 0.9 MPa, a manual drain regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa. The low-pressure type adjusts over a lower band than standard; we confirm the exact figures from the factory datasheet. Air must not freeze in the unit. Flow curves, weight and outline dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.
| GFR400 | G-series filter regulator, 400 body — sets the port range. |
|---|---|
| 10 | Port size PT3/8". This body offers 10 = PT3/8", 15 = PT1/2". |
| A | Drain: Automatic drain — this also sets the regulating band (0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi)). |
| L | Low-pressure type. Blank is standard, L is the low-pressure type. |
| J | Supplied without bracket. |
| (blank) | Pressure gauge fitted (blank). |
| C | Gauge shape: Round. C is round, F is square. |
| 2 | Gauge scale: psi. 1 is MPa, 2 is psi, 3 is bar. |
| W | Filtering grade 5 µm. Only 40 µm (blank) and 5 µm (W) exist. |
| T | NPT thread. PT is the default; G is BSPP and T is NPT. |
| (blank) | No reverse-flow valve (the default). |
Field order is size, port, drain, type, bracket, gauge, shape, scale, grade, thread, reflux — a blank position takes the default. Example: GFR300-08 is a 300 body, PT1/4", differential drain, standard type, bracket included, gauge fitted, 40 µm, PT thread, no reflux valve.
A larger body carries a larger port and holds set pressure better as flow rises. AirTAC publishes flow only as curves, so size the body from your peak demand with headroom. The GFR600 uses an aluminium-alloy bowl; the 200, 300 and 400 bodies use PC.

A workholding clamp circuit that must run below the plant's main supply pressure: the GFR400-10 filters the feed air to 5 um and holds the reduced setting the clamps need, with the psi gauge giving the setter a direct reading at the press.
Sorting and gating cylinders along a packaging conveyor need clean, steady air at a reduced pressure. Mounted at the line drop, this unit filters water and fine dirt out of the supply and keeps the gate pressure stable through the shift, while the automatic drain handles condensate without daily attention.
Pneumatic actuators on filling and capping heads are sensitive to water carryover and pressure drift. A 5 um filter regulator at the take-off point polishes the plant air and sets the actuator supply pressure locally, with the round psi gauge letting maintenance verify the setting during line checks.
Start with the port step: the 400 size carries a 3/8 in port, one step above the 300 series, so step up if your line's flow demand sits near the top of a smaller unit - we will confirm sizing from the published flow curves on request. This unit is already specified with the 5 um (W) element; choose it where downstream valves and cylinders are sensitive to fine particulate, and stay with 40 um where coarser protection is enough. The automatic drain suits unattended or hard-to-reach installations; manual and differential-pressure drains are the alternatives on other codes. The round psi gauge is fitted here; square embedded gauges and MPa or bar scales are the other options. Thread is NPT as ordered, with PT (standard) and G also available in the family. Bracket is not fitted on this code (J); a bracket can be ordered where panel or wall fixing is needed.
Quick checklist
The PC bowl must not be cleaned with solvents — wipe it with a dry cloth. Without the K option, air cannot flow back through the unit. A filter regulator adds no oil to the line.
AirTAC publishes flow for the GFR series as curves, not as a single rated number, so we do not quote a figure here. Tell us your application and we will confirm the flow data from the datasheet so you can size the unit against your demand before ordering.
The W suffix in the code selects the finer 5 um element instead of the 40 um standard, which suits downstream equipment that is sensitive to fine particulate. The A suffix selects the automatic drain, which ejects collected condensate on its own - useful where the unit is mounted out of easy reach. A manual or differential-pressure drain can be ordered instead on other codes.
