The AirTAC GFR400-10 AirTAC Filter Regulator NPT3/8 5um Manual Drain is a genuine G-series filter regulator: water separation, 5 µm particulate filtration and balanced-type pressure regulation combined in a single body. It has PT3/8" ports, a manual drain and regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi). It does not lubricate — add a GL lubricator, or order the GFC two-unit set, if downstream equipment needs oil.
The AirTAC GFR400-10 is a filter regulator: it removes water and particulate from compressed air and sets downstream pressure in a single body. This configuration is the size 400 unit with a 3/8 in NPT port, a fine 5 um filter element (code W), a manual drain on the polycarbonate bowl, a round external gauge scaled in psi, and a built-in reverse/check valve that holds downstream pressure when the supply is interrupted. The standard regulator covers 0.05-0.9 MPa (7-130 psi) with manual drain, and the unit handles up to 1.0 MPa (145 psi) inlet at -5 to 70 C, non-freezing.
This is a genuine AirTAC part. The GFR400 series is one of four sizes (200/300/400/600) with port options from 1/8 to 1 in, a choice of 40 um standard or 5 um fine filtration, differential-pressure, automatic or manual drains, gauge type and scale, and G or NPT threads on request. Flow for this series is published as curves rather than a single rated figure, so ask us to confirm the datasheet and sizing for your application.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC G-series air-preparation data. The regulating band is set by the drain type: automatic and differential-pressure drains regulate 0.15 - 0.9 MPa, a manual drain regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa. Standard type, regulating 0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi). Air must not freeze in the unit. Flow curves, weight and outline dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.
| GFR400 | G-series filter regulator, 400 body — sets the port range. |
|---|---|
| 10 | Port size PT3/8". This body offers 10 = PT3/8", 15 = PT1/2". |
| M | Drain: Manual drain — this also sets the regulating band (0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi)). |
| (blank) | Standard type. Blank is standard, L is the low-pressure type. |
| J | Supplied without bracket. |
| (blank) | Pressure gauge fitted (blank). |
| C | Gauge shape: Round. C is round, F is square. |
| 2 | Gauge scale: psi. 1 is MPa, 2 is psi, 3 is bar. |
| W | Filtering grade 5 µm. Only 40 µm (blank) and 5 µm (W) exist. |
| T | NPT thread. PT is the default; G is BSPP and T is NPT. |
| K | Reverse-flow (reflux) valve fitted. |
Field order is size, port, drain, type, bracket, gauge, shape, scale, grade, thread, reflux — a blank position takes the default. Example: GFR300-08 is a 300 body, PT1/4", differential drain, standard type, bracket included, gauge fitted, 40 µm, PT thread, no reflux valve.
A larger body carries a larger port and holds set pressure better as flow rises. AirTAC publishes flow only as curves, so size the body from your peak demand with headroom. The GFR600 uses an aluminium-alloy bowl; the 200, 300 and 400 bodies use PC.

Feeds filtered, regulated air to clamp and fixture cylinders on a CNC machining cell, with the 5 um element protecting pilot valves and the check valve holding clamp pressure if the main supply drops.
Prepares air for carton-forming and sealing actuators on a packaging conveyor, giving the line a set pressure read in psi on the round gauge and a manual drain for end-of-shift bowl purging.
Installed at the point of use on a factory air drop to condition supply for hand tools, air cylinders and small process valves, with the check valve isolating the station from upstream fluctuations.
Size 400 with a 3/8 in port suits lines whose air demand sits in the upper mid-range of the G-series flow curves; step up to size 600 or down to size 300 depending on the curve for your consumption. The 5 um element (W) is the right choice when downstream valves, cylinders or instruments need finer filtration than the 40 um standard element provides. The manual drain (M) means an operator opens the bowl drain periodically - choose automatic or differential-pressure drain instead if the unit will be left unattended. The round psi gauge (C2) gives a familiar external readout; embedded square gauges and MPa or bar scales are also available. The T in the code selects NPT threading for US pipework (PT is the catalogue standard, G/BSPP is the other option), J deletes the mounting bracket, and K fits a reverse/check valve. Because flow is published as curves and not a single rating, send us your air consumption and we will confirm sizing against the datasheet before you order.
Quick checklist
The PC bowl must not be cleaned with solvents — wipe it with a dry cloth. The reflux valve permits reverse flow through the unit. A filter regulator adds no oil to the line.
AirTAC publishes G-series flow as performance curves rather than a single rated figure, so we do not quote a rated flow, Cv or SCFM number. Tell us your air consumption and operating pressure and we will confirm the sizing from the datasheet on request before you order.
The M in the code selects a manual drain on the filter bowl: collected water and condensate must be drained by opening the drain by hand at intervals. If the unit will run unattended, the differential-pressure (blank) or automatic (A) drain options remove that task - we can quote those variants of the GFR400 on request.
