GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator, NPT 1/2 in

The AirTAC GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator, NPT 1/2 in is a genuine G-series filter regulator: water separation, 40 µm particulate filtration and balanced-type pressure regulation combined in a single body. It has PT1/2" ports, a automatic drain and regulates 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi). It does not lubricate — add a GL lubricator, or order the GFC two-unit set, if downstream equipment needs oil.

About the GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator, NPT 1/2 in

The AirTAC GFR400-15 is a size 400 filter regulator: it removes water and particulate from compressed air and regulates downstream pressure in a single body. This configuration has a 1/2 in NPT port, a 40 um standard filter element, and an automatic drain that bleeds collected condensate from the PC bowl without manual attention. The standard regulator adjusts outlet pressure over 0.15-0.9 MPa (20-130 psi), with a maximum working (inlet) pressure of 1.0 MPa (145 psi) and an operating temperature of -5 to 70 C (non-freezing). No gauge is fitted and no mounting bracket is included on this variant.

This is a genuine AirTAC part. The GFR filter-regulator family spans sizes 200, 300, 400 and 600 with port sizes from 1/8 in to 1 in, and can be ordered with manual or differential-pressure drains, a 5 um element (code W), an embedded square or external round gauge, G (BSPP) or NPT threads in place of the PT standard, and a mounting bracket. Rated flow for this series is published as curves rather than a single figure, so ask us and we will confirm the datasheet figures for your application.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC G-series air-preparation data. The regulating band is set by the drain type: automatic and differential-pressure drains regulate 0.15 - 0.9 MPa, a manual drain regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa. Standard type, regulating 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi). Air must not freeze in the unit. Flow curves, weight and outline dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.

Model Code: GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator, NPT 1/2 in

GFR400G-series filter regulator, 400 body — sets the port range.
15Port size PT1/2". This body offers 10 = PT3/8", 15 = PT1/2".
ADrain: Automatic drain — this also sets the regulating band (0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi)).
(blank)Standard type. Blank is standard, L is the low-pressure type.
JSupplied without bracket.
NNo pressure gauge (N).
(blank)Gauge shape: Factory standard. C is round, F is square.
(blank)Gauge scale: Factory standard. 1 is MPa, 2 is psi, 3 is bar.
(blank)Filtering grade 40 µm. Only 40 µm (blank) and 5 µm (W) exist.
TNPT thread. PT is the default; G is BSPP and T is NPT.
(blank)No reverse-flow valve (the default).

Field order is size, port, drain, type, bracket, gauge, shape, scale, grade, thread, reflux — a blank position takes the default. Example: GFR300-08 is a 300 body, PT1/4", differential drain, standard type, bracket included, gauge fitted, 40 µm, PT thread, no reflux valve.

A larger body carries a larger port and holds set pressure better as flow rises. AirTAC publishes flow only as curves, so size the body from your peak demand with headroom. The GFR600 uses an aluminium-alloy bowl; the 200, 300 and 400 bodies use PC.

Where the GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator, NPT 1/2 in Is Used

precision_manufacturing

CNC machine pneumatic supply

Feeding clean, pressure-controlled air to tool clamps, pallet changers and air blast nozzles on a machining centre, with the automatic drain handling condensate between shifts.

conveyor_belt

Packaging line conveyor actuators

Conditioning the air that drives stoppers, pushers and diverters on a bottling or cartoning conveyor, where steady regulated pressure keeps sequencing cylinders repeatable.

factory

Assembly plant air drops

Serving as the point-of-use filter regulator on a workshop air drop, protecting downstream valves and cylinders from water and scale in a shared compressed-air ring main.

Is the GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator, NPT 1/2 in the Right Unit?

Size 400 with a 1/2 in port sits in the upper half of the GFR range; step up to size 600 or down to 300/200 depending on the flow your line needs - we will check the published flow curves against your demand before you order. Drain choice matters: this unit has an automatic drain, which suits unattended or hard-to-reach installations, while manual and differential-pressure drains are available as alternatives. The standard 40 um element covers general plant air; specify the 5 um W option where finer protection is needed. A gauge is not fitted here - gauge and pressure-scale options can be ordered if you want local pressure readout. Thread is NPT on this code; PT is the standard and G (BSPP) is also an order option, and a mounting bracket can be added if the unit will not be piped rigidly.

Quick checklist

  • ✓ Body size for your peak flow (PT1/2" here)
  • ✓ Element 40 µm or 5 µm
  • ✓ Drain sets the regulating band
  • ✓ Gauge fitted, shape and scale
  • ✓ Thread PT, G (BSPP) or NPT
  • ✓ Oil needed downstream? Use GFC instead

Installation & Maintenance Notes

  • check Mount vertically, bowl down, following the airflow arrow.
  • check One body does the filtering and the regulating — no separate regulator needed.
  • check Keep inlet pressure at or below 1.0 MPa (145 psi).
  • check Adjust only within 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi).
  • check Drain condensate before the bowl fills.
  • check Keep the unit above freezing (-5 to +70 °C, unfreeze).

The PC bowl must not be cleaned with solvents — wipe it with a dry cloth. Without the K option, air cannot flow back through the unit. A filter regulator adds no oil to the line.

GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator, NPT 1/2 in FAQ

AirTAC publishes flow for the GFR series as curves, not as a single rated figure, so we do not quote a number here. Tell us your line pressure and the air demand of your equipment and we will confirm the sizing from the datasheet curves on request.

This code carries drain type A, meaning condensate collected in the bowl is discharged automatically without operator attention - useful for remote or enclosed installations. The GFR family is also available with manual or differential-pressure drains, and with a 5 um element (code W) instead of the standard 40 um, if your application calls for it.
