The AirTAC GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator NPT1/2, 5 um is a genuine G-series filter regulator: water separation, 5 µm particulate filtration and balanced-type pressure regulation combined in a single body. It has PT1/2" ports, a differential-pressure drain and regulates 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi). It does not lubricate — add a GL lubricator, or order the GFC two-unit set, if downstream equipment needs oil.
The GFR400-15 is an AirTAC GFR400 filter regulator: a single body that removes water and particulate from compressed air and then regulates downstream pressure. This configuration is sized for 1/2 in NPT ports, carries the fine 5 um filtration grade (code W), and uses the differential-pressure drain, which bleeds collected condensate automatically whenever the pressure differential across the element is high enough - no daily manual draining on a well-loaded line. It is fitted with an external round pressure gauge reading in bar, and no mounting bracket is included. Maximum inlet pressure is 1.0 MPa (145 psi), the standard regulator covers an adjustment range of 0.15-0.9 MPa (20-130 psi), and the operating temperature range is -5 to 70 C (non-freezing). The bowl on this size 400 unit is polycarbonate (PC).
This is a genuine AirTAC part. The GFR family is available in sizes 200, 300, 400 and 600 with port sizes from 1/8 in to 1 in, a choice of differential-pressure, automatic or manual drain, 40 um standard or 5 um fine filtration, square (embedded) or round gauges with MPa, psi or bar scales, and PT, G or NPT threads. Flow is published as curves rather than a single rating, so ask us to confirm the datasheet and sizing for your application before ordering.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC G-series air-preparation data. The regulating band is set by the drain type: automatic and differential-pressure drains regulate 0.15 - 0.9 MPa, a manual drain regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa. Standard type, regulating 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi). Air must not freeze in the unit. Flow curves, weight and outline dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.

|---|---|
| 15 | Port size PT1/2". This body offers 10 = PT3/8", 15 = PT1/2". |
| (blank) | Drain: Differential-pressure drain — this also sets the regulating band (0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi)). |
| (blank) | Standard type. Blank is standard, L is the low-pressure type. |
| J | Supplied without bracket. |
| (blank) | Pressure gauge fitted (blank). |
| C | Gauge shape: Round. C is round, F is square. |
| 3 | Gauge scale: bar. 1 is MPa, 2 is psi, 3 is bar. |
| W | Filtering grade 5 µm. Only 40 µm (blank) and 5 µm (W) exist. |
| T | NPT thread. PT is the default; G is BSPP and T is NPT. |
| (blank) | No reverse-flow valve (the default). |
Field order is size, port, drain, type, bracket, gauge, shape, scale, grade, thread, reflux — a blank position takes the default. Example: GFR300-08 is a 300 body, PT1/4", differential drain, standard type, bracket included, gauge fitted, 40 µm, PT thread, no reflux valve.
A larger body carries a larger port and holds set pressure better as flow rises. AirTAC publishes flow only as curves, so size the body from your peak demand with headroom. The GFR600 uses an aluminium-alloy bowl; the 200, 300 and 400 bodies use PC.

On a workshop pneumatic press, this unit filters carryover water and rust from the shop air line and holds a steady regulated pressure to the press cylinder, helping keep stroke force repeatable from cycle to cycle.
Feeding air cylinders and diverters on a carton packaging line, the 5 um element protects directional valves from particulate while the regulator keeps actuator speed consistent as line demand fluctuates.
Mounted at the air inlet of a CNC machine tool's pneumatic panel, it conditions the supply to tool-change and clamping circuits, with the bar gauge giving operators a visible setpoint check during shift start-up.
Start with the port step: size 400 with 1/2 in NPT ports suits lines where the compressor and pipework already deliver enough air for the downstream demand - step up or down a size if your piping differs, since flow capacity rises with each size step. On drain, the differential-pressure type fitted here is the set-and-forget default; choose automatic if you want continuous condensate removal, or manual if the unit sees light, intermittent duty. The 5 um grade fitted here is the finer option over the 40 um standard - pick it where downstream valves and instruments tolerate less particulate. Gauge scale (MPa, psi or bar) and thread (PT standard; G and NPT to order) are decodable choices, and a bracket can be ordered where the code omits it, as here.
One honest note on sizing: AirTAC publishes flow for this family as curves, not as a single rated figure, so we do not quote a flow number. Send us your application details and we will confirm the datasheet figures and correct size before you order.
Quick checklist
The PC bowl must not be cleaned with solvents — wipe it with a dry cloth. Without the K option, air cannot flow back through the unit. A filter regulator adds no oil to the line.
AirTAC publishes flow for the GFR family as performance curves rather than a single rated figure, so we do not quote a flow number for this unit. Tell us your application - working pressure, downstream demand and piping - and we will confirm the datasheet curve and check that size 400 with 1/2 in ports suits your requirement before you order.
The W in the code GFR40015JC3WT selects the optional 5 um fine filtration grade; the standard GFR element is 40 um. Choose 5 um where downstream valves, cylinders or instruments are sensitive to finer particulate, and 40 um for general plant air. Both grades are available across the GFR range, and the differential-pressure drain fitted here removes collected condensate automatically under normal pressure differential.
