The AirTAC GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator NPT1/2, 5 um, Manual Drain is a genuine G-series filter regulator: water separation, 5 µm particulate filtration and balanced-type pressure regulation combined in a single body. It has PT1/2" ports, a manual drain and regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi). It does not lubricate — add a GL lubricator, or order the GFC two-unit set, if downstream equipment needs oil.
The GFR400-15 is an AirTAC GFR-series filter regulator: a filter and a pressure regulator combined in a single body, so one unit removes water and particulate from compressed air and holds a set downstream pressure. This configuration is the size 400 unit with a 1/2 in NPT port, the 5 um (code W) element instead of the standard 40 um, a manual-drain polycarbonate bowl, the low-pressure regulator type, an embedded square gauge scaled in MPa, a reverse/check valve fitted, and a mounting bracket included. Maximum inlet pressure is 1.0 MPa (145 psi) and the working temperature range is -5 to 70 C (non-freezing).
This is a genuine AirTAC part. The GFR family is published in sizes 200, 300, 400 and 600 with ports from 1/8 to 1 in, and with manual, automatic or differential-pressure drains, 40 um or 5 um elements, embedded square or optional external round gauges, and PT, G or NPT threads. Rated flow is published as curves rather than a single figure; ask us and we will confirm the datasheet figures for your application.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC G-series air-preparation data. The regulating band is set by the drain type: automatic and differential-pressure drains regulate 0.15 - 0.9 MPa, a manual drain regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa. The low-pressure type adjusts over a lower band than standard; we confirm the exact figures from the factory datasheet. Air must not freeze in the unit. Flow curves, weight and outline dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.
| GFR400 | G-series filter regulator, 400 body — sets the port range. |
|---|---|
| 15 | Port size PT1/2". This body offers 10 = PT3/8", 15 = PT1/2". |
| M | Drain: Manual drain — this also sets the regulating band (0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi)). |
| L | Low-pressure type. Blank is standard, L is the low-pressure type. |
| (blank) | Mounting bracket included. |
| (blank) | Pressure gauge fitted (blank). |
| F | Gauge shape: Square. C is round, F is square. |
| 1 | Gauge scale: MPa. 1 is MPa, 2 is psi, 3 is bar. |
| W | Filtering grade 5 µm. Only 40 µm (blank) and 5 µm (W) exist. |
| T | NPT thread. PT is the default; G is BSPP and T is NPT. |
| K | Reverse-flow (reflux) valve fitted. |
Field order is size, port, drain, type, bracket, gauge, shape, scale, grade, thread, reflux — a blank position takes the default. Example: GFR300-08 is a 300 body, PT1/4", differential drain, standard type, bracket included, gauge fitted, 40 µm, PT thread, no reflux valve.
A larger body carries a larger port and holds set pressure better as flow rises. AirTAC publishes flow only as curves, so size the body from your peak demand with headroom. The GFR600 uses an aluminium-alloy bowl; the 200, 300 and 400 bodies use PC.

Clean, regulated air to the directional control valve and cylinder on a bench or frame press, with the 5 um element protecting the valve spool and the check valve holding the set pressure if upstream supply dips.
Point-of-use supply for carton-sealing and case-erector cylinders on a packaging line, where the regulator holds a steady setting for consistent cylinder strokes and the manual drain bowl is emptied during scheduled changeovers.
Filtered, regulated air to pneumatic clamps and the tool-change circuit on a CNC machining centre, with the 5 um grade guarding fine-clearance components and the square MPa gauge giving the operator a clear setpoint reference.
Pick the size step (200/300/400/600) and port against the flow your line needs - here size 400 with a 1/2 in NPT port. Choose the drain: manual (this unit) needs periodic bowl draining, while automatic or differential-pressure drains suit unattended installations. Choose the element grade: 40 um standard or 5 um (this unit) for finer protection of downstream equipment. Gauges are embedded square with MPa, psi or bar scales and an optional external round gauge; threads are PT as standard with G and NPT as catalogue options; brackets are optional. Flow is published as curves, not a single rating, so send us your application and we will confirm sizing against the datasheet before you order.
Quick checklist
The PC bowl must not be cleaned with solvents — wipe it with a dry cloth. The reflux valve permits reverse flow through the unit. A filter regulator adds no oil to the line.
AirTAC publishes GFR flow as performance curves rather than a single rated figure, so we do not quote one number here. Tell us your application and we will confirm the datasheet flow figures for this 1/2 in, size 400 unit before you order.
Code M in GFR400-15MLF1WTK means the polycarbonate bowl is drained by hand, which suits attended cells with scheduled maintenance. The same GFR family is also available with automatic or differential-pressure drains for unattended installations - ask us for those variants.
