The AirTAC GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator NPT1/2 Square Gauge is a genuine G-series filter regulator: water separation, 40 µm particulate filtration and balanced-type pressure regulation combined in a single body. It has PT1/2" ports, a manual drain and regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi). It does not lubricate — add a GL lubricator, or order the GFC two-unit set, if downstream equipment needs oil.
The AirTAC GFR400-15 is a filter regulator: it removes water and particulate from compressed air and sets downstream pressure in a single compact body, so one unit does the job that would otherwise need a separate filter and regulator. This configuration is the size 400 series with 1/2 in NPT ports, a manual drain bowl in polycarbonate, the standard 40 um filtration element, an embedded square pressure gauge scaled in MPa, and no mounting bracket or reverse/check valve. Maximum inlet pressure is 1.0 MPa (145 psi), the regulated outlet range is 0.05-0.9 MPa (7-130 psi), and the operating temperature range is -5 to 70 C (non-freezing).
This is a genuine AirTAC part. The GFR family is available in sizes 200, 300, 400 and 600 with a choice of PT, G (BSPP) or NPT threads, manual, automatic or differential-pressure drains, a 5 um element option (code W), gauge scale options in MPa, psi or bar, and bracket variants. Rated flow for this series is published as curves rather than a single figure, so ask us and we will confirm the datasheet figures for your application on request.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC G-series air-preparation data. The regulating band is set by the drain type: automatic and differential-pressure drains regulate 0.15 - 0.9 MPa, a manual drain regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa. Standard type, regulating 0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi). Air must not freeze in the unit. Flow curves, weight and outline dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.
| GFR400 | G-series filter regulator, 400 body — sets the port range. |
|---|---|
| 15 | Port size PT1/2". This body offers 10 = PT3/8", 15 = PT1/2". |
| M | Drain: Manual drain — this also sets the regulating band (0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi)). |
| (blank) | Standard type. Blank is standard, L is the low-pressure type. |
| J | Supplied without bracket. |
| (blank) | Pressure gauge fitted (blank). |
| F | Gauge shape: Square. C is round, F is square. |
| 1 | Gauge scale: MPa. 1 is MPa, 2 is psi, 3 is bar. |
| (blank) | Filtering grade 40 µm. Only 40 µm (blank) and 5 µm (W) exist. |
| T | NPT thread. PT is the default; G is BSPP and T is NPT. |
| (blank) | No reverse-flow valve (the default). |
Field order is size, port, drain, type, bracket, gauge, shape, scale, grade, thread, reflux — a blank position takes the default. Example: GFR300-08 is a 300 body, PT1/4", differential drain, standard type, bracket included, gauge fitted, 40 µm, PT thread, no reflux valve.
A larger body carries a larger port and holds set pressure better as flow rises. AirTAC publishes flow only as curves, so size the body from your peak demand with headroom. The GFR600 uses an aluminium-alloy bowl; the 200, 300 and 400 bodies use PC.

Mounted at the point of use on a machine shop's compressed-air ring main, the GFR400-15 filters condensed water and swarf-carrying particulate out of the supply and holds a steady regulated pressure to the CNC machine's pneumatic valves and clamps.
On a carton-forming and sealing line, the unit conditions the air feeding the conveyor stop gates and box-eject cylinders: the 40 um element keeps debris out of the directional valves while the regulator holds the pressure the cylinder sequence was set up with.
Feeding spray guns in a finishing booth, the filter stage strips water and pipe-scale that would otherwise cause fisheyes and streaks in the coating, and the regulator lets the operator set and hold the gun supply pressure for a consistent finish.
Start with the port step: GFR comes in sizes 200, 300, 400 and 600, and the 400 size with 1/2 in ports suits lines whose air demand sits above what a 300-size 1/2-step-down unit is sized for - match the size to the pipe and the flow curve, not just the port thread. Choose the drain to match how the unit is attended: a manual drain (this model) needs someone to open it during checks, an automatic drain empties itself, and the differential-pressure default drains on a pressure drop. The standard element is 40 um; specify the W option for 5 um where finer filtration matters. Gauges are embedded square as standard with MPa, psi or bar scales, and an external round gauge is optional. Thread is PT as standard with G (BSPP) and NPT as order options - this model is the NPT variant. Brackets are optional (this unit is supplied without one). Because rated flow is published only as curves, not a single number, send us your air demand and we will confirm the right size before you order.
Quick checklist
The PC bowl must not be cleaned with solvents — wipe it with a dry cloth. Without the K option, air cannot flow back through the unit. A filter regulator adds no oil to the line.
AirTAC publishes flow for the GFR series as performance curves rather than a single rated-flow figure, so we do not quote one number here. Send us your line pressure and air demand and we will confirm the datasheet curve and the right size for your application on request.
The M in the code GFR40015MJF1T specifies a manual drain: the bowl is emptied by hand during routine checks. If the unit sits where nobody opens the drain regularly, order the automatic-drain variant instead; the differential-pressure drain (the no-letter default) is the third option. All three share the same filtering and regulating function.
