The AirTAC GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator PT1/2 5 um Manual Drain is a genuine G-series filter regulator: water separation, 5 µm particulate filtration and balanced-type pressure regulation combined in a single body. It has PT1/2" ports, a manual drain and regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi). It does not lubricate — add a GL lubricator, or order the GFC two-unit set, if downstream equipment needs oil.
The AirTAC GFR400-15 is a filter regulator: one body that removes water and particulate from compressed air and then regulates downstream pressure. This size-400 unit is fitted with a 1/2 in PT port, a 5 um filter element (the finer of the two catalogue grades), a manual drain on the PC bowl, a standard regulator with a 0.05-0.9 MPa (7-130 psi) adjustment range, and an external round gauge scaled in psi. Maximum inlet pressure is 1.0 MPa (145 psi) and the working temperature range is -5 to 70 C (non-freezing).
This is a genuine AirTAC part. The GFR family is published in sizes 200, 300, 400 and 600, with port options from 1/8 in to 1 in, PT (standard), G or NPT threads, differential-pressure, automatic or manual drains, 40 um or 5 um elements, and MPa, psi or bar gauge scales. Flow is published as curves rather than a single rating, so ask us to confirm the datasheet figures for your application.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC G-series air-preparation data. The regulating band is set by the drain type: automatic and differential-pressure drains regulate 0.15 - 0.9 MPa, a manual drain regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa. Standard type, regulating 0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi). Air must not freeze in the unit. Flow curves, weight and outline dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.
| GFR400 | G-series filter regulator, 400 body — sets the port range. |
|---|---|
| 15 | Port size PT1/2". This body offers 10 = PT3/8", 15 = PT1/2". |
| M | Drain: Manual drain — this also sets the regulating band (0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi)). |
| (blank) | Standard type. Blank is standard, L is the low-pressure type. |
| J | Supplied without bracket. |
| (blank) | Pressure gauge fitted (blank). |
| C | Gauge shape: Round. C is round, F is square. |
| 2 | Gauge scale: psi. 1 is MPa, 2 is psi, 3 is bar. |
| W | Filtering grade 5 µm. Only 40 µm (blank) and 5 µm (W) exist. |
| (blank) | PT thread. PT is the default; G is BSPP and T is NPT. |
| (blank) | No reverse-flow valve (the default). |
Field order is size, port, drain, type, bracket, gauge, shape, scale, grade, thread, reflux — a blank position takes the default. Example: GFR300-08 is a 300 body, PT1/4", differential drain, standard type, bracket included, gauge fitted, 40 µm, PT thread, no reflux valve.
A larger body carries a larger port and holds set pressure better as flow rises. AirTAC publishes flow only as curves, so size the body from your peak demand with headroom. The GFR600 uses an aluminium-alloy bowl; the 200, 300 and 400 bodies use PC.

Mounted at the drop to a machining centre, the GFR400-15 cleans the shop air to 5 um and holds a steady regulated pressure to the tool changer, clamps and air bearings, with the psi gauge giving the operator a direct setpoint readout.
On a packaging or filling line, the unit conditions the 1/2 in air main feeding cylinders and diverters, protecting them from water and fine particulate while the manual drain is emptied during scheduled changeover checks.
Installed at the point of use on a factory assembly bench, the GFR400-15 filters and regulates the supply to hand-held air tools and fixtures, with the 5 um element suiting stations running sensitive pneumatic components.
Start with the port and size step: size 400 with a 1/2 in PT port suits lines plumbed at 1/2 in, and the larger the size, the greater the flow capacity - match it to your demand using the published curves. This configuration carries the 5 um element (code W) instead of the 40 um standard, which is the right choice where downstream valves and instruments are sensitive to finer particles; note that finer filtration is normally paired with an upstream coarser stage in dirty air. The manual drain (code M) means the PC bowl must be drained by hand on a routine, so it suits duties with regular operator attention; choose automatic or differential-pressure drain codes if the unit is inaccessible. The round psi gauge (code C2) gives a direct readout in psi, and the J code means no mounting bracket is supplied - order one if you want the unit secured to a panel or wall. Thread is PT as standard; G or NPT are order options. Because flow is published as curves and not a single rated figure, send us your application details and we will confirm sizing against the datasheet before you order.
Quick checklist
The PC bowl must not be cleaned with solvents — wipe it with a dry cloth. Without the K option, air cannot flow back through the unit. A filter regulator adds no oil to the line.
AirTAC publishes flow for the GFR series as curves, not as a single rated number, so we do not quote one here. Tell us your line pressure and air demand and we will confirm the correct size and the datasheet flow figures for the GFR400-15 on request before you order.
The M in the code specifies a manual drain on the PC bowl: condensate is emptied by hand on a routine you set. It suits units that are reachable and checked regularly. If the unit will be mounted out of reach or on a line that runs unattended, ask for the automatic (A) or differential-pressure (blank) drain code instead when ordering.
