The AirTAC GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator, PT1/2, Low-Pressure is a genuine G-series filter regulator: water separation, 40 µm particulate filtration and balanced-type pressure regulation combined in a single body. It has PT1/2" ports, a automatic drain and regulates 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi). It does not lubricate — add a GL lubricator, or order the GFC two-unit set, if downstream equipment needs oil.
The AirTAC GFR400-15 is a filter regulator: it removes water and particulate from compressed air and regulates downstream pressure in a single body. This size 400 unit is configured with 1/2 in PT ports, an automatic drain that ejects collected condensate without manual attention, a 40 um standard filtration element, and the low-pressure regulator type. A round pressure gauge scaled in psi is fitted, and a reverse/check valve is built in to hold downstream settings. No mounting bracket is included with this configuration.
This is a genuine AirTAC part. The GFR family is offered in sizes 200, 300, 400 and 600 with a choice of ports, drain types, 40 um or 5 um filtration, gauge styles and scales, and G or NPT thread options. Flow is published as curves rather than a single rating, so ask us and we will confirm the datasheet figures for your application on request.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC G-series air-preparation data. The regulating band is set by the drain type: automatic and differential-pressure drains regulate 0.15 - 0.9 MPa, a manual drain regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa. The low-pressure type adjusts over a lower band than standard; we confirm the exact figures from the factory datasheet. Air must not freeze in the unit. Flow curves, weight and outline dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.
| GFR400 | G-series filter regulator, 400 body — sets the port range. |
|---|---|
| 15 | Port size PT1/2". This body offers 10 = PT3/8", 15 = PT1/2". |
| A | Drain: Automatic drain — this also sets the regulating band (0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi)). |
| L | Low-pressure type. Blank is standard, L is the low-pressure type. |
| J | Supplied without bracket. |
| (blank) | Pressure gauge fitted (blank). |
| C | Gauge shape: Round. C is round, F is square. |
| 2 | Gauge scale: psi. 1 is MPa, 2 is psi, 3 is bar. |
| (blank) | Filtering grade 40 µm. Only 40 µm (blank) and 5 µm (W) exist. |
| (blank) | PT thread. PT is the default; G is BSPP and T is NPT. |
| K | Reverse-flow (reflux) valve fitted. |
Field order is size, port, drain, type, bracket, gauge, shape, scale, grade, thread, reflux — a blank position takes the default. Example: GFR300-08 is a 300 body, PT1/4", differential drain, standard type, bracket included, gauge fitted, 40 µm, PT thread, no reflux valve.
A larger body carries a larger port and holds set pressure better as flow rises. AirTAC publishes flow only as curves, so size the body from your peak demand with headroom. The GFR600 uses an aluminium-alloy bowl; the 200, 300 and 400 bodies use PC.

Cleaning and regulating the shop-air feed that actuates tool changers, clamps and coolant-air blasts on a machining centre, with the psi gauge giving operators a direct readout at the machine.
Conditioning the air that drives grippers, diverters and case-eject cylinders on a beverage filling line, where the automatic drain handles condensate through continuous multi-shift running.
Supplying filtered, regulated air to pneumatic quarter-turn actuators on a process skid, with the reverse/check valve helping hold the set pressure if the upstream supply dips.
Start with size and port: 200, 300, 400 and 600 step up in port and capacity, so match the size to the air demand of the circuit rather than the pipe alone. This unit is the size 400 with 1/2 in PT ports. Next, choose the drain: automatic (this unit) drains itself, manual needs periodic operator attention, and differential-pressure draining (the default) responds to the pressure drop across the element. Filtration is 40 um standard here; specify code W for 5 um where finer protection is needed. The regulator in this unit is the low-pressure type - confirm the adjustment band with us before ordering. Gauge options are the embedded square gauge or an external round gauge, scaled in MPa, psi or bar (this unit: round, psi). Thread is PT as standard; G (BSPP) and NPT are order options. Brackets are optional on GFR - this configuration has none.
Flow for GFR units is published as curves, not a single rated figure, so send us your air demand and we will confirm sizing against the datasheet before you order.
Quick checklist
The PC bowl must not be cleaned with solvents — wipe it with a dry cloth. The reflux valve permits reverse flow through the unit. A filter regulator adds no oil to the line.
AirTAC publishes GFR performance as flow curves rather than a single rated figure, so there is no one number we can quote without overstating it. Send us your operating pressure and air demand and we will confirm the relevant datasheet curve and sizing on request before you order.
GFR units can be ordered with a differential-pressure drain (the default), a manual drain, or the automatic drain fitted here. The automatic drain ejects collected condensate on its own, which suits unattended or continuously running installations; a manual drain needs periodic operator attention. This GFR400-15 carries the automatic drain (code A).
