The AirTAC GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator PT1/2, Manual Drain is a genuine G-series filter regulator: water separation, 40 µm particulate filtration and balanced-type pressure regulation combined in a single body. It has PT1/2" ports, a manual drain and regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi). It does not lubricate — add a GL lubricator, or order the GFC two-unit set, if downstream equipment needs oil.
The AirTAC GFR400-15 is a filter regulator: it removes water and particulate from compressed air and regulates downstream pressure in a single body. This 400-size unit is ported PT1/2 (1/2 in, PT thread), carries a 40 um standard filter element, and uses a manual drain, so the bowl is emptied by opening the drain valve during routine checks. A round pressure gauge scaled in psi is fitted for setting the outlet pressure, a reverse/check valve is fitted to hold downstream pressure, and the unit is supplied without a mounting bracket. The polycarbonate bowl is rated for a maximum inlet pressure of 1.0 MPa (145 psi) and an operating temperature of -5 to 70 C (non-freezing).
This is a genuine AirTAC part from the GFR series, which spans sizes 200, 300, 400 and 600 with port sizes from 1/8 in to 1 in, a choice of manual, automatic or differential-pressure drains, a 5 um optional element (code W), gauge scales in MPa, psi or bar, G or NPT thread options, and bracket variants. Flow is published as curves rather than a single rating, so ask us to confirm the datasheet and flow figures for your application on request.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC G-series air-preparation data. The regulating band is set by the drain type: automatic and differential-pressure drains regulate 0.15 - 0.9 MPa, a manual drain regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa. Standard type, regulating 0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi). Air must not freeze in the unit. Flow curves, weight and outline dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.

| M | Drain: Manual drain — this also sets the regulating band (0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi)). |
| (blank) | Standard type. Blank is standard, L is the low-pressure type. |
| J | Supplied without bracket. |

| C | Gauge shape: Round. C is round, F is square. |
| 2 | Gauge scale: psi. 1 is MPa, 2 is psi, 3 is bar. |
| (blank) | Filtering grade 40 µm. Only 40 µm (blank) and 5 µm (W) exist. |
| (blank) | PT thread. PT is the default; G is BSPP and T is NPT. |
| K | Reverse-flow (reflux) valve fitted. |
Field order is size, port, drain, type, bracket, gauge, shape, scale, grade, thread, reflux — a blank position takes the default. Example: GFR300-08 is a 300 body, PT1/4", differential drain, standard type, bracket included, gauge fitted, 40 µm, PT thread, no reflux valve.
A larger body carries a larger port and holds set pressure better as flow rises. AirTAC publishes flow only as curves, so size the body from your peak demand with headroom. The GFR600 uses an aluminium-alloy bowl; the 200, 300 and 400 bodies use PC.

Mounted at the drop feeding a CNC machining cell, the unit strips water and swarf-carrying particulate from the plant air line and holds a steady regulated pressure to the clamps and air tools, with the psi gauge giving the setter a direct reading at the cell.
On a packaging conveyor line, the filter regulator conditions the air feeding the pneumatic cylinders and flap-fold actuators, keeping pressure stable through the shift while the 40 um element protects valve seals from water and debris; the check valve holds the circuit if supply dips.
Feeding spray guns in a finishing booth, the unit removes moisture and particles that would otherwise blemish the finish and regulates the gun supply pressure, with the manual drain bled at the start of each shift as part of the booth routine.
Start with the port step: 400 size takes 1/2 in ports, and the right size depends on the flow your line needs - compare the published flow curves against your demand before fixing the size. Then pick the drain: manual (this unit) suits installations where an operator can bleed the bowl during checks; automatic suits unattended duty; differential-pressure is the default where you want drainage tied to flow conditions. Choose the 40 um standard element for general plant air, or the 5 um W option where finer filtration is needed. Select the gauge scale (MPa, psi or bar) and thread (PT standard, with G and NPT as order options), and add a bracket if you want panel fixing - this configuration is supplied without one. Because flow is published as curves rather than a single rated figure, ask us to confirm sizing against your application before ordering.
Quick checklist
The PC bowl must not be cleaned with solvents — wipe it with a dry cloth. The reflux valve permits reverse flow through the unit. A filter regulator adds no oil to the line.
AirTAC publishes flow for the GFR400 as curves, not as a single rated figure, so we do not quote a rated flow, Cv or SCFM number. Send us your line pressure and air demand and we will confirm the flow figures from the datasheet for your application on request.
The M in the code specifies a manual drain: the polycarbonate bowl is emptied by opening its drain valve during routine checks. The GFR400 is also available with an automatic drain (code A) for unattended duty, or with the differential-pressure drain, which is the default. The drain choice also sets the regulation range: with a manual drain the adjustment range is 0.05-0.9 MPa (7-130 psi).
