GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator PT1/2, Manual Drain

The AirTAC GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator PT1/2, Manual Drain is a genuine G-series filter regulator: water separation, 40 µm particulate filtration and balanced-type pressure regulation combined in a single body. It has PT1/2" ports, a manual drain and regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi). It does not lubricate — add a GL lubricator, or order the GFC two-unit set, if downstream equipment needs oil.

About the GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator PT1/2, Manual Drain

The AirTAC GFR400-15 is a size-400 filter regulator: it removes water and particulate from compressed air and regulates downstream pressure in a single body. This configuration is 1/2 in PT thread, carries a 40 um standard filter element, and uses a manual drain, so condensate is emptied by opening the drain at the bottom of the PC bowl. The fitted embedded square gauge reads in psi, and the standard regulator covers an adjustment range of 0.05-0.9 MPa (7-130 psi) with a maximum inlet pressure of 1.0 MPa (145 psi). Operating temperature is -5 to 70 C, non-freezing.

This is a genuine AirTAC part. The GFR series is available in sizes 200, 300, 400 and 600 with port sizes from 1/8 to 1 in, PT, G or NPT threads, differential-pressure, automatic or manual drains, a 5 um optional element, MPa/psi/bar gauge scales and optional brackets. Flow is published as curves rather than a single rating, so ask us to confirm datasheet figures for your application.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC G-series air-preparation data. The regulating band is set by the drain type: automatic and differential-pressure drains regulate 0.15 - 0.9 MPa, a manual drain regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa. Standard type, regulating 0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi). Air must not freeze in the unit. Flow curves, weight and outline dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.

15Port size PT1/2". This body offers 10 = PT3/8", 15 = PT1/2".
MDrain: Manual drain — this also sets the regulating band (0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi)).

FGauge shape: Square. C is round, F is square.
2Gauge scale: psi. 1 is MPa, 2 is psi, 3 is bar.
(blank)Filtering grade 40 µm. Only 40 µm (blank) and 5 µm (W) exist.
(blank)PT thread. PT is the default; G is BSPP and T is NPT.
(blank)No reverse-flow valve (the default).

Field order is size, port, drain, type, bracket, gauge, shape, scale, grade, thread, reflux — a blank position takes the default. Example: GFR300-08 is a 300 body, PT1/4", differential drain, standard type, bracket included, gauge fitted, 40 µm, PT thread, no reflux valve.

  • GFR600PT3/4" - PT1"

A larger body carries a larger port and holds set pressure better as flow rises. AirTAC publishes flow only as curves, so size the body from your peak demand with headroom. The GFR600 uses an aluminium-alloy bowl; the 200, 300 and 400 bodies use PC.

Where the GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator PT1/2, Manual Drain Is Used

precision_manufacturing

Pneumatic press supply

Feeding filtered, regulated air to a workshop pneumatic press or clamping fixture on a 1/2 in main, with the psi gauge giving the operator a direct setpoint readout.

factory

Packaging line air prep

Conditioning the air supply to carton sealers, case packers and wrapping machines, where the 40 um element keeps water and debris out of cylinders and valves.

conveyor_belt

Conveyor actuation circuit

Regulating pressure to conveyor stopper and diverter cylinders, with the manual drain letting maintenance bleed accumulated condensate during scheduled rounds.

Is the GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator PT1/2, Manual Drain the Right Unit?

Size 400 with a 1/2 in PT port sits in the upper-middle of the GFR range; step up to size 600 or down to size 300 depending on the flow your line needs. Because flow is published as curves, not a single rating, ask us to confirm sizing against your application before ordering. This unit has a manual drain: choose it when someone is on site to bleed the bowl regularly; automatic or differential-pressure drains suit unattended installations. The 40 um element is standard; specify the W code for the 5 um grade if downstream equipment needs finer filtration. The square gauge here reads psi; MPa and bar scales are available, and an external round gauge is optional. PT is the standard thread, with G and NPT as order options, and this configuration is supplied without a mounting bracket (J code).

Quick checklist

  • ✓ Body size for your peak flow (PT1/2" here)
  • ✓ Element 40 µm or 5 µm
  • ✓ Drain sets the regulating band
  • ✓ Gauge fitted, shape and scale
  • ✓ Thread PT, G (BSPP) or NPT
  • ✓ Oil needed downstream? Use GFC instead

Installation & Maintenance Notes

  • check Mount vertically, bowl down, following the airflow arrow.
  • check One body does the filtering and the regulating — no separate regulator needed.
  • check Keep inlet pressure at or below 1.0 MPa (145 psi).
  • check Adjust only within 0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi).
  • check Drain condensate before the bowl fills.
  • check Keep the unit above freezing (-5 to +70 °C, unfreeze).

The PC bowl must not be cleaned with solvents — wipe it with a dry cloth. Without the K option, air cannot flow back through the unit. A filter regulator adds no oil to the line.

GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator PT1/2, Manual Drain FAQ

AirTAC publishes flow for the GFR series as curves rather than a single rated figure, so we do not quote a rated flow number. Tell us your application and we will confirm the flow and sizing from the datasheet on request before you order.

The M code in GFR40015MJF2 selects the manual drain: condensate collecting in the PC bowl is emptied by opening the drain fitting by hand. It suits installations with regular operator presence; if the unit will run unattended, ask about the automatic or differential-pressure drain versions of the same size.
