GFR400-15 NPT1/2 AirTAC Low-Pressure Filter Regulator

The AirTAC GFR400-15 NPT1/2 AirTAC Low-Pressure Filter Regulator is a genuine G-series filter regulator: water separation, 5 µm particulate filtration and balanced-type pressure regulation combined in a single body. It has PT1/2" ports, a differential-pressure drain and regulates 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi). It does not lubricate — add a GL lubricator, or order the GFC two-unit set, if downstream equipment needs oil.

About the GFR400-15 NPT1/2 AirTAC Low-Pressure Filter Regulator

The AirTAC GFR400-15 is a filter regulator: it removes water and particulate from compressed air and regulates downstream pressure in a single body. This size 400 unit has a 1/2 in NPT port, the low-pressure regulator type, a 5 um filter element (code W), a polycarbonate bowl with differential-pressure drain, and an embedded square gauge reading in bar. Maximum inlet pressure is 1.0 MPa (145 psi) and the working temperature range is -5 to 70 C, non-freezing. No mounting bracket is included and no reverse/check valve is fitted.

This is a genuine AirTAC part. The GFR series is available in sizes 200, 300, 400 and 600 with ports from 1/8 in to 1 in, and with options including manual or automatic drains, the 40 um standard element, gauge scales in MPa, psi or bar, and PT, G or NPT threads. Flow for this series is published as curves rather than a single rated figure, so ask us to confirm the datasheet and sizing for your application on request.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC G-series air-preparation data. The regulating band is set by the drain type: automatic and differential-pressure drains regulate 0.15 - 0.9 MPa, a manual drain regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa. The low-pressure type adjusts over a lower band than standard; we confirm the exact figures from the factory datasheet. Air must not freeze in the unit. Flow curves, weight and outline dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.

Model Code: GFR400-15 NPT1/2 AirTAC Low-Pressure Filter Regulator

GFR400G-series filter regulator, 400 body — sets the port range.
15Port size PT1/2". This body offers 10 = PT3/8", 15 = PT1/2".
(blank)Drain: Differential-pressure drain — this also sets the regulating band (0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi)).
LLow-pressure type. Blank is standard, L is the low-pressure type.
JSupplied without bracket.
(blank)Pressure gauge fitted (blank).
FGauge shape: Square. C is round, F is square.
3Gauge scale: bar. 1 is MPa, 2 is psi, 3 is bar.
WFiltering grade 5 µm. Only 40 µm (blank) and 5 µm (W) exist.
TNPT thread. PT is the default; G is BSPP and T is NPT.
(blank)No reverse-flow valve (the default).

Field order is size, port, drain, type, bracket, gauge, shape, scale, grade, thread, reflux — a blank position takes the default. Example: GFR300-08 is a 300 body, PT1/4", differential drain, standard type, bracket included, gauge fitted, 40 µm, PT thread, no reflux valve.

A larger body carries a larger port and holds set pressure better as flow rises. AirTAC publishes flow only as curves, so size the body from your peak demand with headroom. The GFR600 uses an aluminium-alloy bowl; the 200, 300 and 400 bodies use PC.

Where the GFR400-15 NPT1/2 AirTAC Low-Pressure Filter Regulator Is Used

valve

Low-pressure pneumatic clamping on assembly fixtures

Filtered, low-pressure regulated air to clamping cylinders on an assembly fixture, where the regulator holds a low set point and the 5 um element helps protect downstream valve seals.

factory

Air supply to a paint-spray booth

Conditioning the air feed to spray guns in a paint booth: water and particles down to 5 um are removed and the pressure is held at the low setting the gun requires, read locally on the bar gauge.

conveyor_belt

Packaging line actuation drops

Regulated air for low-pressure actuation on a packaging machine - sorting gates, hold-downs and small cylinders fed from a single 1/2 in drop with a local gauge for setting.

Is the GFR400-15 NPT1/2 AirTAC Low-Pressure Filter Regulator the Right Unit?

Size and port step up together: 200 through 600 cover 1/8 in to 1 in, and the right step depends on the flow your line needs. Drain choice on the bowl is differential-pressure (standard, as fitted here), automatic or manual; element grade is 40 um standard or 5 um with the W code, as on this unit. The gauge can be ordered with MPa, psi or bar scales, and threads come as PT (the standard), G or NPT - this unit is NPT. Brackets are optional; this configuration is supplied without one. Because flow is published as curves rather than a single rating, ask us to confirm sizing against your application before ordering.

Quick checklist

  • ✓ Body size for your peak flow (PT1/2" here)
  • ✓ Element 40 µm or 5 µm
  • ✓ Drain sets the regulating band
  • ✓ Gauge fitted, shape and scale
  • ✓ Thread PT, G (BSPP) or NPT
  • ✓ Oil needed downstream? Use GFC instead

Installation & Maintenance Notes

  • check Mount vertically, bowl down, following the airflow arrow.
  • check One body does the filtering and the regulating — no separate regulator needed.
  • check Keep inlet pressure at or below 1.0 MPa (145 psi).
  • check Adjust only within 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi).
  • check Drain condensate before the bowl fills.
  • check Keep the unit above freezing (-5 to +70 °C, unfreeze).

The PC bowl must not be cleaned with solvents — wipe it with a dry cloth. Without the K option, air cannot flow back through the unit. A filter regulator adds no oil to the line.

GFR400-15 NPT1/2 AirTAC Low-Pressure Filter Regulator FAQ

AirTAC publishes flow for the GFR series as curves, not as a single rated figure, so we do not quote a number here. Send us your line pressure, downstream demand and allowable pressure drop, and we will confirm the flow and sizing from the datasheet on request.

The L code selects the low-pressure regulator type, intended where the working set point sits at the low end of the range; the exact regulation span for this type is not published in the standard table, so we confirm it on request. The W code fits the 5 um element instead of the 40 um standard - a finer grade where downstream valves and instruments need cleaner air.
