GFR400-15G AirTAC Filter Regulator G1/2 Auto Drain

The AirTAC GFR400-15G AirTAC Filter Regulator G1/2 Auto Drain is a genuine G-series filter regulator: water separation, 40 µm particulate filtration and balanced-type pressure regulation combined in a single body. It has PT1/2" ports, a automatic drain and regulates 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi). It does not lubricate — add a GL lubricator, or order the GFC two-unit set, if downstream equipment needs oil.

About the GFR400-15G AirTAC Filter Regulator G1/2 Auto Drain

The AirTAC GFR400-15G is a size-400 filter regulator: it removes water and particulate from compressed air and regulates downstream pressure in one body. This configuration is built with a 1/2 in G (BSPP) port, an automatic drain that expels collected condensate without manual attention, a 40 um standard filter element, and a round pressure gauge reading in psi. The standard regulator covers an adjustment range of 0.15-0.9 MPa (20-130 psi), with a maximum inlet pressure of 1.0 MPa (145 psi). Operating temperature is -5 to 70 C (non-freezing), and the polycarbonate bowl suits general-purpose installations.

This is a genuine AirTAC part. The GFR family is available in sizes 200, 300, 400 and 600 with a choice of ports, drain types (differential-pressure, automatic or manual), filter grades (40 um standard, 5 um optional), gauge styles and scales, and PT, G or NPT threads. Flow is published as curves rather than a single rating, so we confirm the datasheet and flow figures for your application on request.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC G-series air-preparation data. The regulating band is set by the drain type: automatic and differential-pressure drains regulate 0.15 - 0.9 MPa, a manual drain regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa. Standard type, regulating 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi). Air must not freeze in the unit. Flow curves, weight and outline dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.

A larger body carries a larger port and holds set pressure better as flow rises. AirTAC publishes flow only as curves, so size the body from your peak demand with headroom. The GFR600 uses an aluminium-alloy bowl; the 200, 300 and 400 bodies use PC.

Where the GFR400-15G AirTAC Filter Regulator G1/2 Auto Drain Is Used

precision_manufacturing

CNC machining centre air supply

Feeds filtered, regulated air to the tool-change and clamping circuits of a CNC machining centre, with the automatic drain keeping condensate out of the supply between operator checks.

conveyor_belt

Packaging line pneumatic actuators

Prepares air for the cylinders and diverters on a carton packaging conveyor, holding a stable downstream pressure for consistent case-sealing strokes across the shift.

factory

Automated assembly cell cylinder feed

Serves as the point-of-use filter regulator for pick-and-place and press-fit cylinders in an assembly cell, protecting downstream valves from water and particulate carryover.

Is the GFR400-15G AirTAC Filter Regulator G1/2 Auto Drain the Right Unit?

Start with the port and size: this unit steps up to 1/2 in on the size-400 body, the right choice when your line's flow demand sits above what the 300 size serves - we confirm exact sizing against the published flow curves before you order. The automatic drain suits unattended or hard-to-reach installations; choose manual or differential-pressure drain codes if you prefer operator-controlled or pressure-differential purging. The 40 um element is the standard grade for general plant air; specify the W code for 5 um when finer protection is needed. This unit carries a round gauge with a psi scale; embedded square gauges and MPa or bar scales are alternatives. Thread is G (BSPP) here, with PT standard and NPT available as order options, and a mounting bracket is included.

Quick checklist

  • ✓ Body size for your peak flow (PT1/2" here)
  • ✓ Element 40 µm or 5 µm
  • ✓ Drain sets the regulating band
  • ✓ Gauge fitted, shape and scale
  • ✓ Thread PT, G (BSPP) or NPT
  • ✓ Oil needed downstream? Use GFC instead

Installation & Maintenance Notes

  • check Mount vertically, bowl down, following the airflow arrow.
  • check One body does the filtering and the regulating — no separate regulator needed.
  • check Keep inlet pressure at or below 1.0 MPa (145 psi).
  • check Adjust only within 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi).
  • check Drain condensate before the bowl fills.
  • check Keep the unit above freezing (-5 to +70 °C, unfreeze).

The PC bowl must not be cleaned with solvents — wipe it with a dry cloth. Without the K option, air cannot flow back through the unit. A filter regulator adds no oil to the line.

GFR400-15G AirTAC Filter Regulator G1/2 Auto Drain FAQ

AirTAC publishes flow for the GFR series as curves, not as a single rated figure, so we do not quote a number here. Tell us your application and we will confirm the flow figures from the datasheet on request before you order.

The A in the code specifies an automatic drain, which discharges collected condensate from the bowl without manual intervention. It suits installations that run unattended or where the bowl is awkward to reach; manual and differential-pressure drain versions are available under their own codes.
