The AirTAC GFR400-15G AirTAC Low-Pressure Filter Regulator 1/2 in is a genuine G-series filter regulator: water separation, 5 µm particulate filtration and balanced-type pressure regulation combined in a single body. It has PT1/2" ports, a manual drain and regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi). It does not lubricate — add a GL lubricator, or order the GFC two-unit set, if downstream equipment needs oil.
The AirTAC GFR400-15G is a filter regulator: water and particulate removal plus downstream pressure regulation in a single body. This 400-size unit is built for a 1/2 inch G (BSPP) port and is the low-pressure type, so it suits circuits that run below standard regulator settings - the exact adjustment range is not published on our sheet, so confirm it with us before ordering. It carries a 5 um filter element (the finer W grade, instead of the standard 40 um), a manual drain on the PC (polycarbonate) bowl, an embedded square gauge scaled in psi, and a built-in reverse/check valve. No mounting bracket is included with this configuration.
This is a genuine AirTAC part. The GFR family spans sizes 200, 300, 400 and 600 with ports from 1/8 to 1 inch, and each size can be ordered with a different drain type, filter grade, gauge scale, thread (PT standard, G or NPT to order) and bracket option. Rated flow is published only as curves rather than a single figure, so ask us to confirm flow and other datasheet values against your application.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC G-series air-preparation data. The regulating band is set by the drain type: automatic and differential-pressure drains regulate 0.15 - 0.9 MPa, a manual drain regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa. The low-pressure type adjusts over a lower band than standard; we confirm the exact figures from the factory datasheet. Air must not freeze in the unit. Flow curves, weight and outline dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.
| GFR400 | G-series filter regulator, 400 body — sets the port range. |
|---|---|
| 15 | Port size PT1/2". This body offers 10 = PT3/8", 15 = PT1/2". |
| M | Drain: Manual drain — this also sets the regulating band (0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi)). |
| L | Low-pressure type. Blank is standard, L is the low-pressure type. |
| J | Supplied without bracket. |
| (blank) | Pressure gauge fitted (blank). |
| F | Gauge shape: Square. C is round, F is square. |
| 2 | Gauge scale: psi. 1 is MPa, 2 is psi, 3 is bar. |
| W | Filtering grade 5 µm. Only 40 µm (blank) and 5 µm (W) exist. |
| G | G (BSPP) thread. PT is the default; G is BSPP and T is NPT. |
| K | Reverse-flow (reflux) valve fitted. |
Field order is size, port, drain, type, bracket, gauge, shape, scale, grade, thread, reflux — a blank position takes the default. Example: GFR300-08 is a 300 body, PT1/4", differential drain, standard type, bracket included, gauge fitted, 40 µm, PT thread, no reflux valve.
A larger body carries a larger port and holds set pressure better as flow rises. AirTAC publishes flow only as curves, so size the body from your peak demand with headroom. The GFR600 uses an aluminium-alloy bowl; the 200, 300 and 400 bodies use PC.

On a fixture circuit where clamps must be held at a deliberately reduced pressure, this low-pressure GFR filters the supply, regulates it to the setpoint, and its check valve helps hold the downstream side if upstream pressure dips.
Packaging lines running air knives and blow-off nozzles need clean, moisture-reduced air at a gentle regulated pressure; the 5 um element protects fine nozzles from particulate while the manual drain lets an operator bleed the bowl at shift checks.
Panel-mounted transmitters and pneumatic positioners on a process skid demand clean, low-pressure air with a visible setpoint; the embedded psi square gauge gives local readout and the 1/2 inch G port suits the skid's main air header.
Start with size and port: 400 is the second-largest GFR frame and this unit takes a 1/2 inch G thread, so match it to your line size and let the published flow curves - not a single rating - decide whether 400 is the right step. Choose the drain to match duty: manual (as here) needs an operator to bleed the bowl, automatic drains continuously, and the differential-pressure default sits between them. Pick the element grade: 40 um is standard for general protection, 5 um (W, as fitted here) for finer downstream needs. Gauge scale can be MPa, psi or bar (psi here, square embedded type; an external round gauge is optional). Thread is G on this unit, with PT standard and NPT available to order; a bracket can be added if the code omits J. Because flow is published as curves rather than a single rated figure, ask us to confirm sizing against your application before ordering.
Quick checklist
The PC bowl must not be cleaned with solvents — wipe it with a dry cloth. The reflux valve permits reverse flow through the unit. A filter regulator adds no oil to the line.
AirTAC publishes flow for the GFR series only as curves, not as a single rated figure, so we do not quote a number here. Tell us your line pressure and required downstream flow and we will confirm the sizing from the datasheet on request.
L marks the low-pressure regulator type, intended for circuits running below standard regulator settings; the exact adjustment range for this variant is not published on our sheet, so confirm it with us. The M in the code means a manual drain: an operator opens the drain to expel collected water, unlike the automatic or differential-pressure drain options which discharge without hands-on attention.
