AirTAC Pneumatics
The AirTAC MSF series is a JIS single-acting spring-return mini cylinder (20-40 mm bore, up to 150 mm stroke) built with a SUS304 stainless barrel for compact clamping and ejection tasks.
inventory_2286 models availableThe AirTAC MSF series is a single-acting push (normally-retracted) mini cylinder. Air pressure extends the rod, and an internal spring returns it. It features a SUS304 stainless steel barrel with aluminium covers, offering a compact footprint that is shorter than an ISO 6432 cylinder of the same bore.
The range spans four bores: 20, 25, 32 and 40 mm. Strokes are available up to 150 mm, limited by the spring-return mechanism. Ports are 1/8 inch on the 20 and 25 mm bores, and 1/4 inch on the 32 and 40 mm bores, available in PT, G or NPT threads.
Because it is single-acting, the usable output force is the air force minus the return-spring force. Net extend force spans roughly 157 N at bore 20 up to 628 N at bore 40 before spring loss. The series uses a fixed TPU bumper for end-of-stroke deceleration. A magnet option (-S) is available for CMSG/DMSG/EMSG position sensing.

The spring-return push action is ideal for folding carton flaps in packaging lines, where the cylinder extends to fold and retracts automatically when air is removed.
Compact 20 and 25 mm bores provide fast diverting on conveyor belts. The shorter JIS body saves space while delivering sufficient net force for light product routing.
The SUS304 stainless barrel withstands shop floor environments. The single-acting design extends to push finished parts off a machine bed and springs back to clear the workspace.
Size the cylinder by matching your load to the specific model's net-force figure, remembering the spring subtracts from the air force. Choose the 20 or 25 mm bore for light ejection, and the 32 or 40 mm bore for heavier clamping. Confirm these five points before ordering: bore size, required stroke (up to 150 mm), port thread type, mounting style, and whether you need the -S magnet option for sensors.
Stay within the MSF series if your motion is push-only and a spring return saves air and a valve position. If you need double-acting motion, step out to the AirTAC MF series. For normally-extended pull action choose the MTF series, and if you need adjustable cushioning, choose the MFC series.
Quick checklist
The MSF series spans 20, 25, 32 and 40 mm bores with strokes up to 150 mm. Net extend force (air force minus the return spring) ranges from about 157 N at bore 20 up to 628 N at bore 40. Always size from the specific model's net-force figure.
The MSF is single-acting push (normally-retracted). The MF is double-acting, requiring air for both directions. The MTF is single-acting pull (normally-extended). Choose MSF when the return motion can be handled by a spring to save air and a valve position.
No. The MSF is a JIS-standard mini cylinder. While it shares bore sizes with some ISO cylinders, its body is shorter than an ISO 6432 cylinder of the same bore. It is an AirTAC JIS design and does not claim ISO interchangeability.
The MSF uses a fixed TPU bumper that decelerates the piston near stroke end; it does not have adjustable air cushioning. For position sensing, an -S magnet option is available for use with CMSG, DMSG and EMSG series reed switches.
