The AirTAC Airtac 3V Solenoid Valves 3V106BT is a genuine 3-port 2-position (3/2) solenoid valve with 1/8 in ports. It either feeds its outlet or vents it to exhaust, which is what makes it the valve for single-acting cylinders, on/off air blow, clamping, vacuum switching and pilot duty.
The 3V106BT is an individual AirTAC 3V1 body in the NPT-threaded 1/8 inch version, ordered with a DC24V coil on a DIN plug connection. It is a direct-acting, single-solenoid 3/2 valve with spring return: one state feeds the outlet, the other vents it to exhaust, so it switches a single line on and off. With a draw of just 3.0 W, the DC24V coil is the low-power option in the range and suits battery-backed panels and compact PLC I/O. NPT is a catalogue option on the 06 body - PT is the standard thread of the family, so confirm which thread your pipework needs before ordering. An IP65 (DIN 40050) coil enclosure, a manual override for commissioning, and operation on filtered air down to 40 um without lubrication round out the spec. Confirm the exact initial state from the datasheet.

| 3V1 | Body — sets the flow, the coil power and whether vacuum is rated. |
|---|---|
| 1/8 in | Port size. M5, 06 = 1/8 in, 08 = 1/4 in, 10 = 3/8 in. |
| DC24V | Coil voltage. A = AC220V, B = DC24V, C = AC110V, E = AC24V, F = DC12V. |
| — | Electrical entry: I = flying lead, otherwise a DIN plug. |
| NPT | Port thread. PT ships from stock; G and NPT are available to order. |
A 3/2 valve has three ports — supply, outlet and exhaust — and two states. It either feeds the outlet or vents it to exhaust, and that is the whole job.
That makes it the right valve for a single-acting (spring-return) cylinder, on/off air blow, a clamp, switching a vacuum generator or suction cup, and piloting a larger valve.
It cannot run a double-acting cylinder. A double-acting cylinder needs air alternately on two sides, which takes a 5-port valve — the AirTAC 4V series.
On North American-built machining cells with NPT air drops, the valve switches a 1/8 inch compressed-air line to a blow-off nozzle that clears chips from a fixture between cycles.
The 3/2 function feeds a single-acting swing clamp to hold a bracket during welding, then vents the clamp line so the internal spring retracts it for loading.
In a small dosing or rinse skid wired for 24 VDC, the low-draw coil sends or vents the pilot signal that opens and closes a larger air-operated diaphragm valve.
Size in both directions. If 1/8 inch flow is tight, step up to the 3V2 (1/8 and 1/4 inch, NC or NO selectable, Cv 0.18-0.19 and rated for vacuum) or the 3V3 (1/4 inch, Cv 0.62). If a dense manifold matters more than flow, look at 3V2M instead. Note that 3V1 has no published Cv or effective-area figure, so any flow-critical duty should be confirmed with us before you commit. Match five points before ordering: port size (M5 or 1/8 inch), thread (PT standard, G and NPT to order), coil voltage, electrical entry (DIN plug as here, or flying lead), and individual valve versus a 1F-20F manifold station count. Need to drive a double-acting cylinder? That takes a 5-port valve - see the AirTAC 4V series.
Confirm before you order
3/2 direct-acting, single solenoid with spring return; operating pressure 0-0.8 MPa (0-114 psi); medium temperature -20 to 70 C; coil power by voltage: AC220V 4.5 VA, AC110V 4.5 VA, AC24V 5.0 VA, DC24V 3.0 W (this version), DC12V 2.5 W; coil protection IP65 (DIN 40050); air filtered to 40 um or finer, no lubrication needed. A flow coefficient (Cv) is not published for the 3V1 series, so confirm flow-critical duties with us before ordering.
It drives single-acting spring-return cylinders, on/off air blow, clamping circuits and pilot stages - never a double-acting cylinder, which needs a 5-port AirTAC 4V valve. The DC24V coil here draws only 3.0 W, which keeps panel loads and battery drain low. If you would rather avoid a wired DIN plug, the same body is orderable with a flying-lead entry, and up to 20 stations can share one manifold base.
