The AirTAC Airtac 3V1 Solenoid Valve 3V106AI is a genuine 3-port 2-position (3/2) solenoid valve with 1/8 in ports. It either feeds its outlet or vents it to exhaust, which is what makes it the valve for single-acting cylinders, on/off air blow, clamping, vacuum switching and pilot duty.
The 3V106AI is a single 3V1 valve, not a manifold set: one direct-acting 3/2 body with 1/8in PT ports that feeds or vents one line, so it suits single-acting cylinders, clamps, short air-blow tasks and pilot duty. Spring return closes the path the coil opened whenever power is removed. As with every 3V1, it comes in one fixed initial state - confirm it on the datasheet.
The I in the code means flying-lead entry: the coil connects through pre-wired lead-out wires rather than a plug-in DIN socket, which helps where connectors are hard to reach. The AC220V coil draws only 4.5 VA, protection is IP65 (DIN 40050), and a manual override is fitted for setup and testing.

Figures follow the official AirTAC 3V1 catalogue. Confirm coil voltage and thread (PT / NPT / G) against the product label before wiring.
| 3V1 | Body — sets the flow, the coil power and whether vacuum is rated. |
|---|---|
| 1/8 in | Port size. M5, 06 = 1/8 in, 08 = 1/4 in, 10 = 3/8 in. |
| AC220V | Coil voltage. A = AC220V, B = DC24V, C = AC110V, E = AC24V, F = DC12V. |
| I | Electrical entry: I = flying lead, otherwise a DIN plug. |
| PT | Port thread. PT ships from stock; G and NPT are available to order. |
A 3/2 valve has three ports — supply, outlet and exhaust — and two states. It either feeds the outlet or vents it to exhaust, and that is the whole job.
That makes it the right valve for a single-acting (spring-return) cylinder, on/off air blow, a clamp, switching a vacuum generator or suction cup, and piloting a larger valve.
It cannot run a double-acting cylinder. A double-acting cylinder needs air alternately on two sides, which takes a 5-port valve — the AirTAC 4V series.
A 4.5 VA AC220V coil and flying-lead wires make this valve easy to drop into test rigs and prototype pneumatic benches without extra connector hardware.
Energise to clamp, release to vent: the spring return unclamps a single-acting hold-down cylinder as soon as the cycle signal drops.
Vent small spring-return actuators on delivery-truck tailgates or hatch latches; IP65 protection copes with washdown and weather exposure.
This is the smallest, lowest-power valve in AirTAC's 3V range and no Cv is published for the 3V1, so size both directions: stay with 3V1 for light duties, step up to 3V2 (1/8in and 1/4in, NC or NO selectable, Cv 0.18-0.19, vacuum-rated) or 3V3 (1/4in, Cv 0.62) for more flow, and pick 3V2M when a dense manifold matters more than flow. Need a double-acting cylinder? That takes the 5-port AirTAC 4V series. Before ordering, match the 1/8in port and PT thread (G and NPT are order-only), the AC220V coil, the flying-lead entry against your wiring habit, and choose an individual valve or a 1F-20F manifold build.

Operating pressure 0-0.8 MPa (0-114 psi), temperature -20 to 70 C, air filtered through a 40 um or finer element, IP65 (DIN 40050) protection, and an AC220V coil rated 4.5 VA. There is no published Cv or effective area for the 3V1 body, so treat flow as to-be-confirmed.
The flying-lead version wires the coil directly through its lead-out wires, which suits tight enclosures, vibrating machines or retrofits where a plug-in connector cannot be reached. Function is identical: a direct-acting 3/2 that drives single-acting cylinders, air blow or a pilot valve - never a double-acting cylinder, which needs an AirTAC 4V 5-port valve.
