The AirTAC Airtac 3V1 Solenoid Valve 3V106D-AM is a genuine 3-port 2-position (3/2) solenoid valve with 1/8 in ports. It either feeds its outlet or vents it to exhaust, which is what makes it the valve for single-acting cylinders, on/off air blow, clamping, vacuum switching and pilot duty.
3V106D-AM is listed against the AirTAC 3V1 body: a 1/8in PT port, direct-acting 3/2-way valve with a single solenoid and spring return. It switches one line between feed and exhaust, which is exactly what spring-return cylinders, clamping points, air-blast nozzles and pilot stages need. A manual override is fitted so you can jog the valve during installation and commissioning.
The D coil letter and the -AM suffix sit outside the standard 3V1 ordering structure (A/B/C/E/F voltages, blank or I entry), so we do not quote a coil power or entry style for this code. The body is rated 0-0.8 MPa (0-114 psi) and the air supply must be filtered to 40 um or finer; confirm the exact electrical build of this variant with us before ordering.

Figures follow the official AirTAC 3V1 catalogue. Confirm coil voltage and thread (PT / NPT / G) against the product label before wiring.
| 3V1 | Body — sets the flow, the coil power and whether vacuum is rated. |
|---|---|
| 1/8 in | Port size. M5, 06 = 1/8 in, 08 = 1/4 in, 10 = 3/8 in. |
| — | Electrical entry: I = flying lead, otherwise a DIN plug. |
| PT | Port thread. PT ships from stock; G and NPT are available to order. |
This code carries a coil option we do not have documented. Ask us and we will confirm the voltage against the factory label before you order.
A 3/2 valve has three ports — supply, outlet and exhaust — and two states. It either feeds the outlet or vents it to exhaust, and that is the whole job.
That makes it the right valve for a single-acting (spring-return) cylinder, on/off air blow, a clamp, switching a vacuum generator or suction cup, and piloting a larger valve.
It cannot run a double-acting cylinder. A double-acting cylinder needs air alternately on two sides, which takes a 5-port valve — the AirTAC 4V series.
Energises to lock a spring-return pin clamp on a small mould tool and vents it on de-energisation, keeping the mould area free of extra plumbing runs.
Acts as the low-draw pilot that triggers a larger main valve on a weaving machine's air-jet insertion, with spring return clearing the pilot line at cycle end.
Exhausts a pressurised test chamber between readings on a leak-test rig, giving the operator a defined spring-return vent path for every cycle.
Because D is not a standard 3V1 voltage letter, treat 3V106D-AM as a special-build enquiry: send us the nameplate or the original machine documentation and we will match it. No Cv is published for the 3V1 body, the smallest and lowest-power member of the 3V range, so flow-critical sizing should be checked with us; more flow points to 3V2 (Cv 0.18-0.19, NC or NO selectable, vacuum rated) or 3V3 (1/4in, Cv 0.62), and 3V2M when manifold density comes first.
Whatever variant you settle on, pin down the five ordering points: M5 or 1/8in port, thread (PT is standard on this family, G and NPT are order options), coil voltage, DIN plug or flying-lead entry, and single valve versus a 1F-20F manifold. A double-acting cylinder calls for the AirTAC 4V series instead.
Confirm before you order
The 3V1 body behind this code is a direct-acting, spring-return 3/2 valve with PT1/8in ports, 0-0.8 MPa (0-114 psi) operating pressure, -20 to 70 C temperature range and IP65 protection to DIN 40050. Standard 3V1 coils are AC220V 4.5 VA, AC110V 4.5 VA, AC24V 5.0 VA, DC24V 3.0 W and DC12V 2.5 W, but the D letter here is non-standard, so confirm this variant's coil with us. No Cv is published for 3V1.
Standard 3V1 codes use voltage letters A, B, C, E or F, an optional I for flying lead, an optional station count and an optional G or NPT thread suffix. The D and -AM segments of 3V106D-AM fall outside that structure, so treat it as a special variant: send us the machine reference and we will identify the build. Functionally it remains a 3/2 valve for single-acting cylinders, blow and pilot duty - not double-acting, which needs the AirTAC 4V range.
