The AirTAC Airtac 3V1 Solenoid Valve 3V106F-X1 is a genuine 3-port 2-position (3/2) solenoid valve with 1/8 in ports. It either feeds its outlet or vents it to exhaust, which is what makes it the valve for single-acting cylinders, on/off air blow, clamping, vacuum switching and pilot duty.
The 3V106F-X1 is a 3/2-way, direct-acting, spring-return solenoid valve built for predictable behaviour on power loss: when the 12V coil drops, the spring carries the spool back to the valve's fixed initial state. With three ports - supply, outlet, exhaust - it feeds or vents a single line, driving single-acting cylinders, air jets, clamps and pilot stages. The -X1 suffix denotes a catalogue variant, so verify its content on the datasheet.
Electrical demand is minimal at 2.5 W on DC12V, connected via a DIN plug. The 1/8in port is PT threaded as standard on this family, the housing meets IP65 (DIN 40050), and the fitted manual override lets technicians cycle the valve during set-up without applying coil power. Feed it air filtered to 40 um or finer; no lubrication is needed.

Figures follow the official AirTAC 3V1 catalogue. Confirm coil voltage and thread (PT / NPT / G) against the product label before wiring.
| 3V1 | Body — sets the flow, the coil power and whether vacuum is rated. |
|---|---|
| 1/8 in | Port size. M5, 06 = 1/8 in, 08 = 1/4 in, 10 = 3/8 in. |
| DC12V | Coil voltage. A = AC220V, B = DC24V, C = AC110V, E = AC24V, F = DC12V. |
| — | Electrical entry: I = flying lead, otherwise a DIN plug. |
| PT | Port thread. PT ships from stock; G and NPT are available to order. |
A 3/2 valve has three ports — supply, outlet and exhaust — and two states. It either feeds the outlet or vents it to exhaust, and that is the whole job.
That makes it the right valve for a single-acting (spring-return) cylinder, on/off air blow, a clamp, switching a vacuum generator or suction cup, and piloting a larger valve.
It cannot run a double-acting cylinder. A double-acting cylinder needs air alternately on two sides, which takes a 5-port valve — the AirTAC 4V series.
Jigs and portable fixtures use the valve to apply a single-acting clamp; when the 12V supply is removed the spring return takes the valve back to its fixed initial state.
A small single-acting air cylinder gates containers into the filler, stroked by the 3V1 and vented by its spring when the 12V coil drops.
The low-power 12V coil pilots the actuator of a bigger pneumatically operated valve, letting a small control signal steer a large air flow.
Flow data is the open question on any 3V1 purchase: AirTAC publishes neither Cv nor effective area for this body, so put your flow-critical duties in front of us for confirmation. If the answer is more flow, the 3V2 (1/8in and 1/4in, selectable NC or NO, Cv 0.18-0.19, vacuum rated) or the 3V3 (1/4in, Cv 0.62) are the next steps up; the 3V2M wins when you need many valves in the least space. This 3/2 valve cannot stroke a double-acting cylinder - that job belongs to the 5-port AirTAC 4V series.
Pin down five points before ordering: M5 or 1/8in port; PT as the standard thread with G and NPT on request; the coil voltage; DIN plug versus flying-lead entry (a flying lead shows as an I in the code); and single valve or manifold stations. The -X1 suffix on this code is a variant marker - verify its content with us.

The catalogue figures are: 0-0.8 MPa (0-114 psi) operating pressure, -20 to 70 C medium temperature, a 2.5 W DC12V coil, IP65 (DIN 40050) protection, and air filtration to 40 um or finer without lubrication. The valve is 3/2, direct-acting, single solenoid with spring return, on a 1/8in PT port. There is no published Cv or effective area for 3V1, and the content of the -X1 variant should be confirmed on the datasheet or through your RFQ.
No. A 3/2 valve has only supply, outlet and exhaust ports, so it either pressurises the outlet or vents it - enough for single-acting spring-return cylinders, air blow, clamps and pilot stages, but not for a cylinder that needs pressure on both sides. Specify a 5-port valve from the AirTAC 4V series for double-acting duty. The 3V1 also arrives in one fixed initial state, which you should verify on the datasheet.
