The AirTAC Airtac 3V1 Solenoid Valve 3V1M5B1F is a genuine 3-port 2-position (3/2) solenoid valve with M5 ports. It either feeds its outlet or vents it to exhaust, which is what makes it the valve for single-acting cylinders, on/off air blow, clamping, vacuum switching and pilot duty.
3V1M5B1F is the single-station entry into the AirTAC 3V1 manifold family: one 3/2-way, direct-acting solenoid valve with spring return, M5 ports, and a 1-station series base. The valve alternates between feeding its outlet and venting it to exhaust, which is exactly what single-acting cylinders, air-blow jets, clamps and pilot stages need.
The DC24V coil draws only 3.0 W, the lowest-power option in the family, and connects through a DIN plug socket with IP65 (DIN 40050) protection. A manual override is fitted so the valve can be trialled without power during commissioning. Air is the working medium, filtered through a 40 um or finer element; lubrication is not required.

Figures follow the official AirTAC 3V1 catalogue. Confirm coil voltage and thread (PT / NPT / G) against the product label before wiring.
| 3V1 | Body — sets the flow, the coil power and whether vacuum is rated. |
|---|---|
| M5 | Port size. M5, 06 = 1/8 in, 08 = 1/4 in, 10 = 3/8 in. |
| DC24V | Coil voltage. A = AC220V, B = DC24V, C = AC110V, E = AC24V, F = DC12V. |
| — | Electrical entry: I = flying lead, otherwise a DIN plug. |
| 1F | 1 stations in one assembly. |
| PT | Port thread. PT ships from stock; G and NPT are available to order. |
A 3/2 valve has three ports — supply, outlet and exhaust — and two states. It either feeds the outlet or vents it to exhaust, and that is the whole job.
That makes it the right valve for a single-acting (spring-return) cylinder, on/off air blow, a clamp, switching a vacuum generator or suction cup, and piloting a larger valve.
It cannot run a double-acting cylinder. A double-acting cylinder needs air alternately on two sides, which takes a 5-port valve — the AirTAC 4V series.
On a water-treatment skid, the 3V1M5B1F sends an M5 pilot signal to actuate a larger diaphragm process valve, and the spring return moves the pilot line back to its fixed initial state whenever the DC24V coil drops out.
An electronics assembly head uses the valve to feed a compact wedge gripper that clamps a PCB carrier and to exhaust the line that releases it, cycling thousands of times per shift from a 3.0 W coil.
A PCB drilling machine fires a short blast of shop air across the bit between holes; the direct-acting 3/2 valve switches that jet on and off under PLC control without heating the cabinet.
Size the 3V1 by duty, not by habit. It is the smallest, lowest-power body in the AirTAC 3V range and has no published Cv, so for flow-critical jobs step up to the 3V2 (1/8in and 1/4in, NC or NO selectable, Cv 0.18-0.19, vacuum rated) or the 3V3 (1/4in, Cv 0.62). Where a dense manifold matters more than flow, 3V2M is the alternative; a double-acting cylinder needs a 5-port valve from the AirTAC 4V series, not this 3/2 body.
Before ordering, confirm five points: port size (M5 or 1/8in), thread (PT is standard on this family; G and NPT are catalogue options to order), coil voltage, electrical entry (DIN plug as here, or flying lead), and whether you need an individual valve or a manifold with more stations.

Operating pressure 0-0.8 MPa (0-114 psi); temperature -20 to 70 C; air filtered through a 40 um or finer element; protection IP65 (DIN 40050). Coil power by voltage: AC220V 4.5 VA, AC110V 4.5 VA, AC24V 5.0 VA, DC24V 3.0 W, DC12V 2.5 W - this model uses the 3.0 W DC24V coil. AirTAC publishes no Cv or effective area for the 3V1.
Yes. The 3V1 family mounts 1 to 20 valves in series on shared bases to save panel space; 3V1M5B1F starts at one station, and codes such as 2F to 20F order larger assemblies. Matching accessories include the 3V1-P30 connecting-screw base set, 3V1-P31 O-ring and long screws, and 3V1-P32 mounting brackets.
