The AirTAC Airtac 3V1 Solenoid Valve 3V1M5BI1F is a genuine 3-port 2-position (3/2) solenoid valve with M5 ports. It either feeds its outlet or vents it to exhaust, which is what makes it the valve for single-acting cylinders, on/off air blow, clamping, vacuum switching and pilot duty.
The 3V1M5BI1F is a one-station 3V1 assembly: a 3/2 direct-acting solenoid valve with DC24V coil, flying-lead entry and M5 porting, pre-mounted on its single-station base. It either feeds the outlet or vents it to exhaust, which is exactly what a spring-return single-acting cylinder, a blow-off nozzle or a pilot stage needs.
Because the valve is direct acting with a spring return, it shifts on coil power alone and snaps back when power drops. The DC24V coil draws just 3.0 W, so it runs cool on switched 24 V supplies, and the lead-out wires let you land the connections directly on your terminal strip instead of plugging in a DIN connector.

Figures follow the official AirTAC 3V1 catalogue. Confirm coil voltage and thread (PT / NPT / G) against the product label before wiring.
| 3V1 | Body — sets the flow, the coil power and whether vacuum is rated. |
|---|---|
| M5 | Port size. M5, 06 = 1/8 in, 08 = 1/4 in, 10 = 3/8 in. |
| DC24V | Coil voltage. A = AC220V, B = DC24V, C = AC110V, E = AC24V, F = DC12V. |
| I | Electrical entry: I = flying lead, otherwise a DIN plug. |
| 1F | 1 stations in one assembly. |
| PT | Port thread. PT ships from stock; G and NPT are available to order. |
A 3/2 valve has three ports — supply, outlet and exhaust — and two states. It either feeds the outlet or vents it to exhaust, and that is the whole job.
That makes it the right valve for a single-acting (spring-return) cylinder, on/off air blow, a clamp, switching a vacuum generator or suction cup, and piloting a larger valve.
It cannot run a double-acting cylinder. A double-acting cylinder needs air alternately on two sides, which takes a 5-port valve — the AirTAC 4V series.
A puff of valve-fed air clears dust or droplets from bottle necks before capping; the spring return vents the nozzle circuit the instant the coil drops out.
One station feeds the clamp cylinder to hold the workpiece and vents it on release, so the jig cannot stay clamped after a power cut.
The M5 valve meters the pilot signal that strokes a bigger diaphragm or cylinder-operated valve mounted on a process skid.
3V1 is the smallest, lowest-power body in AirTAC's 3V range, and this code fixes the configuration: M5 port, DC24V coil, flying-lead entry, single-station base. AirTAC publishes no Cv for 3V1, so if your duty is flow-critical, size upward instead: the 3V2 covers 1/8 and 1/4 ports, is NC or NO selectable, is rated for vacuum and offers Cv 0.18-0.19, while the 3V3 gives 1/4 porting at Cv 0.62. Choose 3V2M when manifold density matters more than flow. If you need to drive a double-acting cylinder, move to the AirTAC 4V series - a 3/2 valve cannot do it.
Before ordering, confirm five points: M5 vs 1/8 port, thread on 1/8 codes (PT is standard; G and NPT are order options), coil voltage, DIN plug vs flying lead, and whether you need an individual valve or a manifold station count. Air is assumed filtered to 40 um or finer; lubrication is not required.

Operating pressure 0-0.8 MPa (0-114 psi); medium temperature -20 to 70 C; DC24V coil rated 3.0 W; protection class IP65 to DIN 40050; air filtered to 40 um or finer, with no lubrication needed. AirTAC publishes no Cv or effective area for the 3V1 body - ask us if flow matters.
One station either feeds or vents a single line, so it suits spring-return single-acting cylinders, clamps, air blow and pilot duty. It cannot reverse a double-acting cylinder - that needs a 5-port valve such as AirTAC's 4V series.
