About the Airtac 3V2 Solenoid Valve 3V208NOB
This is the DC24V DIN-plug version of the AirTAC 3V208 in its normally open form. As a 3/2-way valve it has three ports and two states: in the rest position the 1/4in inlet is already connected to the outlet, and energising the coil shuts the flow and vents the downstream line to exhaust. A spring returns the poppet the moment power is cut, so the de-energised condition is always the open one.
The coaxial poppet is direct-acting, so it needs no minimum pressure to seal and works from 0 to 0.8 MPa. Flow through each port is Cv 0.19 with a 3.4 mm2 effective area, and because the coil draws only 7.0 W on DC24V it suits battery-fed or low-voltage control panels. The valve is also rated for negative pressure down to -102.2 kPa, so the same body can switch vacuum circuits.

What a 3/2 Valve Does
A 3/2 valve has three ports — supply, outlet and exhaust — and two states. It either feeds the outlet or vents it to exhaust, and that is the whole job.
That makes it the right valve for a single-acting (spring-return) cylinder, on/off air blow, a clamp, switching a vacuum generator or suction cup, and piloting a larger valve.
It cannot run a double-acting cylinder. A double-acting cylinder needs air alternately on two sides, which takes a 5-port valve — the AirTAC 4V series.

Bottle-rinse blow-off
On a bottling line the nozzles must blow continuously and stop only when the PLC commands it - the NO rest state keeps air flowing to the jets until the DC24V coil is energised.
Welding fixture clamps
A bank of spring-return clamps that must sit open by default can be fed through this valve; energising the 24V coil vents the clamp line and lets the springs drop the arms.
Water-treatment pilot duty
A larger actuated diaphragm valve on a filtration skid needs a small, reliable pilot; the 1/4in port and Cv 0.19 give enough volume to stroke the actuator briskly.

Match five points before ordering: 1/4in port with PT thread as standard (G and NPT are order options), normally open initial state, DC24V coil, DIN plug entry, and whether the duty includes vacuum. Size down to the 3V1 when the flow is small and coil power matters more - its DC24V coil takes 3.0 W against the 7.0 W here. Choose the 3V2M only when a dense multi-station manifold outweighs flow, since its base routing drops Cv to about 0.1. Step up to the 3V3 (Cv 0.62, also vacuum-rated) when the line needs far more than this valve passes. A double-acting cylinder cannot be run from any 3-port valve - that needs a 5-port AirTAC 4V.
