About the Airtac 3V2 Solenoid Valve 3V208NOC
Specified where 110V AC control circuits are the plant standard, the 3V208NOC is a normally open 3/2 valve with a 1/4in PT port and a DIN-plug coil connection. At rest the inlet is open to the outlet; powering the AC110V coil (7 VA) shuts the flow and vents the outlet port to exhaust, and the spring restores the open state on power loss. That fail-open behaviour is why NO bodies suit purge, blow and release duties.
The direct-acting coaxial poppet seals across the full 0-0.8 MPa range and is also rated for negative pressure, -102.2 kPa to 0.1 MPa, so vacuum lines can share the same valve type. What a 3/2 Valve Does
A 3/2 valve has three ports — supply, outlet and exhaust — and two states. It either feeds the outlet or vents it to exhaust, and that is the whole job.
That makes it the right valve for a single-acting (spring-return) cylinder, on/off air blow, a clamp, switching a vacuum generator or suction cup, and piloting a larger valve.
It cannot run a double-acting cylinder. A double-acting cylinder needs air alternately on two sides, which takes a 5-port valve — the AirTAC 4V series.

Optical enclosure purge
A metrology enclosure needs clean air flowing whenever the machine is idle; the NO valve passes purge air at rest and the AC110V coil interrupts it only during a sealed measurement cycle.
Skid pilot stage
On a process skid this 3/2 pilots a larger spring-return actuator; power off, the actuator line stays fed, and energising the pilot vents it so the spring takes the big valve to its fail position.
Vacuum filtration release
A lab filtration manifold holds a vacuum on a Buchner station through the normally open valve; energising the coil breaks the vacuum instantly for fast cake release.
