The AirTAC 3V208NOE is the normally open, 1/4in PT member of the 3V2 family. It has three ports and two states: unpowered, supply passes through to the outlet; energised, the valve shuts that path and vents the outlet to exhaust. That fail-open logic suits lines where a lost signal must stop feeding a single-acting cylinder, a clamp or a blow jet rather than trap it under pressure.
A spring return and coaxial poppet do the switching, so the valve is fully direct acting and needs no minimum pressure to operate. Each port offers Cv 0.19 (3.4 mm2 effective area). What a 3/2 Valve Does
A 3/2 valve has three ports — supply, outlet and exhaust — and two states. It either feeds the outlet or vents it to exhaust, and that is the whole job.
That makes it the right valve for a single-acting (spring-return) cylinder, on/off air blow, a clamp, switching a vacuum generator or suction cup, and piloting a larger valve.
It cannot run a double-acting cylinder. A double-acting cylinder needs air alternately on two sides, which takes a 5-port valve — the AirTAC 4V series.

Carton-line blow-off
On a food packaging carton sealer, the normally open state keeps the dust-clearing jet running while the machine is powered down or e-stopped; energising the AC24V coil through the DIN plug cuts the jet instantly.
Microplate vacuum handling
A laboratory plate handler uses the 3V208NOE to switch suction on a microplate gripper; the -102.2 kPa vacuum rating lets one valve manage both the vacuum draw and the venting of the cup.
Pilot for a process diaphragm valve
Mounted in a water-treatment skid, the valve passes a pilot air signal to a larger diaphragm valve while unpowered and dumps the signal to exhaust when energised, giving a fail-open control scheme.
